In a PALS resuscitation, every roleโ€”from Team Leader to Timekeeperโ€”is a vital part of the team. Without this clarity, a room quickly becomes crowded instead of coordinated

Well done to last weeks group, who mastered these roles while having fun in the classroom.

A doctor calls the rhythm. A nurse on compression's. A paramedic manages the airway. ACLS doesn't care what your job title is once the algorithm starts. It cares whether you can hand off compression's without missing a beat, whether you speak up when something looks wrong, and whether the team functions as one unit.

That's the real test of this course โ€” not whether each person knows their own scope, but whether a mixed team can move as one when it matters.

Congrats to all who completed the course. ๐Ÿ‘

There's a moment in every PALS simulation where it clicks. Students arrive with a solid BLS foundation. But in the sim, when basic measures aren't enough โ€” when the infant isn't responding and the team has to escalate โ€” that's where the real learning happens on our PALS course.

The most rewarding part? Seeing students connect theory to practice and realise they can handle it." โ€” Marra, PALS Instructor

Last week's ACLS course was an all-ladies group โ€” doctors and nurses working through the full resuscitation cycle together.

The scenarios ran exactly as they should: team leader calling the rhythm, compression's going on while someone else managed the airway, syringes drawn up and ready. Defibrillator pads on, shock delivered, back to compression's โ€” no gaps. The resus timer running on a phone, the Philips monitor showing wave forms in the background. Everyone knew their role.

Congrats to all who completed the course. ๐Ÿ‘

CPR & AED Awareness Week 2026 is observed annually from June 1 to June 7. The week-long campaign highlights the lifesaving power of CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) education, AED (Automated External Defibrillator) accessibility, and community preparedness.

Although the South African NDOH observes CPR week in November, we are definitely co-celebrating with the US.
