OpenAIR scholar, Lakpini Clarence, explores how digital finance is transforming access to clean energy in Nigeria in a new working paper published by the Centre for International Governance Innovation. In “Fintech for Cleantech: The Nigerian Pay-as-You-Go Solar Evolution,” he shows how PAYG solar models are enabling households and small businesses in underserved communities to access electricity through flexible, mobile-enabled payments. As global climate action accelerates, his work highlights how innovation, paired with accessible systems, can drive more equitable and sustainable development.
