This Women's Day, we honour the remarkable woman whose compassion and vision changed countless lives.

In 1808, Mrs. Margaretha Anna Moller, a generous Dutch widow, founded what is today the SA Children's Home, making it the first welfare organisation in South Africa. At a time when there was little support for vulnerable children, she recognised the need for a place of safety, love, and hope. She didn't simply imagine a better future, she invested her own time, resources, and ultimately the majority of her estate to make that vision a reality.

More than 217 years later, her legacy lives on. Every child who finds a safe home, every milestone celebrated, every dream encouraged, and every life transformed at SA Children's Home is a testament to one woman's extraordinary kindness and determination.

This Women's Day, we remember Mrs. Moller with deep gratitude. Her courage reminds us that one woman's compassion can create a legacy that spans generations.

We took a moment to celebrate the incredible women who make SA Children's Home the caring, nurturing place it is.

Our amazing female staff members enjoyed a special breakfast together, a small token of appreciation for the compassion, strength, and unwavering dedication they show every single day.

As our House Manager, Dico, shared while thanking the ladies, they are like mothers to our children. They comfort tears, celebrate achievements, offer guidance, provide stability, and love our children through every season of life. Their care extends far beyond their job descriptions, creating a place where every child feels safe, valued, and loved.

To the remarkable women who pour their hearts into our Home each day, thank you. Your kindness, patience, and commitment shape lives in ways that words cannot fully express. You are the heart of SA Children's Home, and we are deeply grateful for each one of you.
