For our 70th PechaKucha Cape Town event, we are looking for people with unexpected stories, unusual experiences and ideas worth sharing.

We welcome applications from people of **all ages, genders, races and backgrounds**.

Perhaps you have a story about:

* A career change that took you somewhere surprising
* A side project that became something much bigger
* Working in a world most people never get to see
* Turning a childhood interest into your life’s work

* A remarkable journey, expedition or physical challenge

* Travelling somewhere rarely visited
* Exploring a hidden, forgotten or abandoned place
* Attempting something others thought was impossible

* A strange collection
* An obscure skill you have spent years mastering
* A fascination with an everyday object, place or tradition
* Preserving or documenting something that might disappear
* A personal project that began with curiosity and became an obsession

* A simple solution to a complicated problem
* An invention, experiment or unconventional business idea
* A different way of approaching an old problem
* A community initiative that started with one person
* A failure that unexpectedly led to something better

* Starting again after losing your direction
* Finding belonging in an unexpected place or community
* Living between different cultures or worlds
* An encounter that changed the course of your life
* A family story, local legend or forgotten piece of history

* Working with unusual materials or methods
* Reimagining something ordinary
* Preserving a disappearing craft or tradition
* Combining two fields that do not normally belong together
* Creating something that began with a wild idea

Selected speakers will receive **four masterclasses** to help them shape their story, design their slides and prepare for the PechaKucha stage.

PechaKucha presentations follow the **20 × 20 format**, 20 images shown for 20 seconds each.
