Manners 4 Minors visited us! 🤩
Our little learners explored 2 big topics:
The value of true friendship, and what it means to look after and respect our own bodies
Through puppet role-play with old favourites like Caring Kurt, Princess Penny, Rodney and Betty, they learned that:
✨ Good friends are kind, share, and never leave anyone out
✨ “Please” really is a magic word
✨ Our bodies belong to us — and we should always ask before touching a friend (even for a hug!)
✨ It’s okay to say no if something makes us uncomfortable, and to tell someone we trust
We ended off with a little rhyme about how special and unique each of us is — because loving who you are is where good manners and healthy friendships begin. 💚
Small lessons like these help build kind, confident, respectful little humans, and we are so proud of ours! 🏡

Andy’s article this month is on how hitting and biting during toddlerhood is far more normal than it feels, why this is such a common behaviour, and what to do about it.
As always, we hope you find it helpful!

Nothing cuter than a Rabbit class group hug session 🫂💚.
This morning our Rabbits were learning about how we treat our friends and show them that we love them. It was wonderful to see and honestly just the cutest 🥹💛🏡

For Mandela Day this year, our little ones put their 67 minutes towards a cause close to home 💚
We supported the Victim Empowerment Programme (VEP), a volunteer-based initiative at Kirstenhof Police Station and Westlake offering free, confidential counselling and support to survivors of violent crime and trauma.
A special morning our classes dedicated to putting together care packs to be handed to survivors when they arrive at the centre.
A small gesture, but one we hope brought a little comfort on a hard day 🫂🥺
Thank you to every family who donated 🙏.
Here is to continuing Madiba’s legacy and helping the children understand the importance of giving and community support. 🇿🇦🏡

2 years! 🥹
2 years yesterday since we became the first Forest Edge preschool. An incredible amount of hard work. And an incredible amount of fun, love and jumping for joy! 🥳🙌🏽
We’ve grown and learnt so much, and will strive to continue to do so, so that we can serve our community in the best way that we can! 🤗
Massive shoutout to the children, parents and staff who make the Educare House community what it is.❤️🥰🏡

Andy’s Substack this month is on what to do after you say no. ❌
We’re very good at telling children no, but they often don’t know what to do next. 😅

It was such a treat having the fathers at school for our Father’s Day celebration 🥳
What made the day so special was seeing our Dads really relaxing, engaging and having fun with their kiddies! 🥺
Wishing all our dads a wonderful Father’s Day weekend! 💚🏡

This month’s theme was Blast from the Past 🎉 and the Squirrels class wrapped up the month in the most iconic way — an 80s dance party! 🕺🪩
The kids absolutely delivered and honestly so did the teachers.
What a way to end the term! 🤩💚

This month’s parenting article is on providing reasoning with feedback.
When you make the decision not to be mean to someone as an adult, that doesn’t typically come from worrying about repercussions. It comes from an internal compass built over time - through experience, interactions, and the way you were disciplined.
In Andy’s previous article, she spoke about the direction you want that compass to point. In this article, she writes about taking one step to build it.
