Tyler's Art For 18 years, I have been teaching 40 passionate and responsive students each week in our stunning decorative art studio. I love it!

I have a background in interior design and spent 15 years with Mary Denny Designs. I teach my students to recycle, repaint, restyle, and decorate old and new pieces of furniture, wood, glass, ceramics and tinware, to a high standard. We also work with pewter and mosaics. We use decoupage, mirror distressing, gold and silverleafing, antique oils, and water-based glazes in our work. We have held six successful biennial exhibitions at Groot Constantia, Kirstenbosch Gardens and at my studio, in which we have showcased our work to the public for sale. Our work has been sent overseas, and we have been aired on The Spirit Within on SABC 3. For regular classes and once-off workshops, contact Lynne.

2/2 Wendy combined the print with intricate cutouts of paper flowers and birds to compliment the Art Nouveau style and added background in serviettes, handmade papers, gold leaf, silver leaf and Dala Metal paint to create her vision. This art form is called Potichomania and is practiced by a well known artist in America called John Derian. He has a few design studios and an online retail shop.

I will be introducing my students to a 3D form of this beautiful art next year. Can't wait šŸ˜Š

This week's workshop was enjoyed by a wonderful group of enthusiastic decorative artists! Elna travelled all the way from Middleburg near Jo'burg to attend this workshop. Her talented family own a decor store and are much in demand for their painted furniture using Annie Sloan Chalk paints. Elna wanted to improve her decorative art skills by learning new ways with Chalk Paint. She will be using the techniques learnt on the picture frame to add decorative details to her furniture.

Our latest workshop using Skim/Artist's Paste with beautiful antique lace to embellish custom made picture frames. To complete the frames we matched the picture inserts with Annie Sloan paints, and embellished them with the illuminating Treasure Gold Wax. So feminine! ā¤ļø

Annie Sloan Soft Wax goes on like butter. In my opinion and with my 10 years of experience as a decorative artist, this wax is the best you can buy for ease of use, durability, and cost. One tin at $28.95 can do 10-12 pieces of furniture. Not only does it go over Chalk PaintĀ®, it is EXCELLENT for bare wood to preserve and protect. There is NOTHING on the market that even comes close to me!
