We, as the Westridge Secondary School community, are heartbroken to learn of the sudden passing of our beloved former colleague Christopher 'Chippie' Solomons. He was a Biology/Phys. Ed teacher as well Head of Department at our school from 1983 until he left to take up a role with the Stormers in 2004. He coached our athletics team with huge success, with the highlight being in 1987, when Westridge High unseated the traditional A-Section powerhouses like Belgravia High and Heathfield High. Chippie was a legendary figure at our school, as is evident in the flood of tributes that have been posted on social media by past learners and colleagues. He was more than a colleague—he was part of our WSS family. Our thoughts are with his wife Pearl as well as Chad and Nina. Rest easy, Chippie. You will be deeply missed. 🕊️

To the Westridge High School Community – our phenomenal learners, dedicated educators, supportive parents, we are bursting with pride.

We have achieved an outstanding 90.3% pass rate in the 2025 NSC Examinations, an improvement of 12.3% over the previous year.

This is a testament to the resilience, hard work, and unwavering spirit of our learners, guided by the passion and commitment of our teachers. Each late night of study, each lesson planned with care, and every word of encouragement has culminated in this achievement.

This is more than a result. This 90.3% is our foundation, our launchpad, and our clear declaration: Westridge High is on the rise again

We will channel this confidence into strengthening our academic programs and reigniting the legendary pride that has always defined our school.

Together, we are not just celebrating a result; we are actively restoring Westridge High to its former glory and beyond.

Thank you to every single person who played a part. Here’s to the Class of 2025 – well done!

A mural featuring one of Westridge High's most distinguished Alumni, Dr. Athol Williams, was unveiled on Monday 28 April 2025. The mural is located on Eisleben Road. For his efforts to promote literacy in Mitchell's Plain and beyond, Dr. Williams is indeed a South African hero and an education champion.
