Africa Day!

TODAY’S WORD ON AFRICA DAY 🌍

Petrichor is the earthy scent produced when rain falls on dry soil.

The word is constructed from Greek πέτρα pétra, meaning "stone", and ἰχώρ īchṓr, which is the fluid that flows in the veins of the gods in Greek mythology.

Given how dry the soil is and how rarely it rains there, this natural phenomenon is all the more marvelous in places like the Karoo.

Pic of the day!

Maletsunyane Falls, located in an unspoilt area in Semonkong, is a 192-metre-high waterfall dropping into a gorge. The falls is one of the highest single-drop waterfalls in the southern hemisphere. One can enjoy beautiful views of lush valleys and mountain streams along the way to the falls, and there’s a hiking trail taking you to the base of the falls. A great experience!
