🌸HELLO SEPTEMBER, GOODBYE AUGUST!🌸

August was filled with so many happy little moments at First Steps Daycare!

From Pets to Insects & Spiders, our little learners explored, created, baked, sang, danced, played, discovered and learned together every step of the way.

Looking back at all the photos, our hearts are so full seeing their smiles, curiosity, confidence and joy in learning. 💕

🐛🦋 INSECTS & SPIDERS | THEME WRAP-UP 🐝🕷️

Last week, we wrapped up our Insects & Spiders Theme after two wonderful weeks of creepy-crawly fun! 🐞

Our little learners continued to explore, discover, create and learn through play as we took a closer look at the fascinating little creatures that share our world.

🦋 Sensory Fun
We explored the Butterfly Life Cycle through hands-on sensory play with playdough, colourful noodles, chickpeas and other interesting textures.

🐛 Busy Little Fingers
Our fine-motor activities kept those little hands working with threading, matching, counting, sorting and insect-themed games—all helping to strengthen hand-eye coordination and those important little finger muscles.

🐝 Move Like a Bug!
We crawled like caterpillars, fluttered like butterflies, buzzed like bees and moved our bodies through lots of fun insect-inspired Gross-Motor activities.

🎶 Music & Movement
There was plenty of singing, dancing and action as we enjoyed some of our favourite insect songs together.

🎨 Creative Little Bugs
Our classrooms were buzzing with creativity as our children enjoyed more colourful insect and butterfly-inspired art activities.

🗣️ Show & Tell
We ended off the week with our favourite Friday tradition - Show & Tell! We loved seeing our little learners proudly share with their friends. 💛

🦋Weekly Highlight – Edible Butterfly Life Cycle!
Learning was extra delicious this week as we made and baked our very own Edible Butterfly Life Cycle! From the tiny eggs and wriggly caterpillar to the chrysalis and beautiful butterfly, our little learners had so much fun creating each stage—and, of course, eating it afterwards! 😋

What a lovely way to wrap up two weeks filled with curiosity, discovery, creativity and lots of creepy-crawly adventures! 🐛🐞🦋

🐛🦋 INSECTS & SPIDERS | WEEKLY UPDATE🐞🕷️

What a bug-tastic week we've had at First Steps! Our little learners have been busy discovering, creating, moving and exploring the wonderful world of insects and spiders.

Here are a few of our favourite moments… 💚

🎨Little Artists
We created colourful ladybugs, butterflies, caterpillars and spiders using a variety of recycled and art & craft materials.

🌿 Sensory Explorers
Little hands were kept busy digging and sorting insects in our sensory bin, exploring the butterfly life cycle with chickpeas and different-shaped noodles, and heading outdoors for an exciting Insect Hunt around our school garden. 🔎🐞

🐛 Busy Little Fingers
We strengthened our fine-motor skills with Caterpillar Number & Colour Matching, Bug Rescue and Paper Plate Spider Web Making.

🐝 Busy Little Bodies
We crawled, jumped, hopped, flew and wiggled just like our favourite creepy-crawlies! Lots of fun while building balance, coordination and body awareness.

🎶 Music & Movement
We sang and moved along to The Insects in the Field, The Ants Go Marching and, of course, Incy Wincy Spider! 🕷️🎵

🗣️ Show & Tell
Our little learners loved sharing their special insect and spider-themed treasures with their friends—building confidence, vocabulary and those all-important listening and speaking skills. 💛

🍫🪱 Yummy & Messy Highlight!
We had lots of fun making and baking our own Mud Pudding, complete with edible worm sweets—the perfect creepy-crawly treat! 😋

Another happy week filled with curious minds, busy hands, wiggly bodies and lots of learning through play! ❤️

🐾🐶 PETS THEME WEEK 2 WRAP-UP 🐱🐰

Last week, we wrapped up our Pets Theme with another fun-filled week of learning, exploring and playing together!

Our little learners continued discovering more about different pets, how they move, what they eat, where they live and how we can care for and be gentle with our animal friends.

We had lots of fun developing important skills through our pet-themed activities and games:

🐾 Sensory: Feeding My Pet and Kinetic Sand Play
🐠 Fine-Motor: Sort the Fish and our Catching Fish Game
🐶 Gross-Motor: Body Balance and our Pet Movement Game
🎶 Music & Movement: Singing and adding actions and sounds to I Have a Pet

These playful experiences encouraged coordination, balance, concentration, fine-motor control, sensory exploration, language and confidence —all while having lots of fun with friends!

🐦🌻 We also loved creating our own bird feeders using recycled toilet rolls, peanut butter and bird seed. A simple hands-on activity that brought together creativity, sensory exploration and learning about caring for the animals around us.

Another wonderful theme filled with curiosity, creativity, movement, laughter and learning through play.️

🐾🐶PETS THEME WEEK 1 🐱🐰

A little look back at all the fun we had exploring our Pets Theme two weeks ago!

Our little learners loved discovering the wonderful world of pets—learning about different kinds of pets, what they eat, where they live, how they move and, most importantly, how we can care for and be gentle with our animal friends.🐶🐱🐦🐠

There were lots of happy, busy little hands as the children enjoyed pet-themed sensory play, creative activities, matching and sorting games, fine and gross motor activities, songs, stories and imaginative pet play with their friends.

🐕🍪 One of our favourite highlights was making and baking our very own Chocolate Chip Doggy Bone Biscuits— it's always extra special when we get to eat what we've made!

JULY RECAP - LITTLE MOMENTS, BIG MEMORIES!

What a wonderful month July was at First Steps Daycare!💙

From the excitement of our Winter Holiday Programme and the kindness shared on Mandela Day, to welcoming everyone back for Term 3 and heading to the Farm for our first learning adventure — July was filled with so many special moments. 🥰

There was plenty of playing, exploring, creating, baking, moving, laughing and learning together along the way!
