Today we celebrate what makes South Africa so wonderfully special — our people, our cultures, our languages, our traditions and, of course… our FOOD! 😂🔥🍗

At Big Fish Little Fish, we believe that every little person brings their own unique story, culture and heritage into our school community. 🌍🐟💙

Today, our little fishies (and our teachers too! 😜) got into the Heritage Day spirit by dressing up in their beautiful heritage outfits, celebrating our different cultures, dancing, learning, laughing and enjoying a good old school braai! 🇿🇦🔥🥩

Because let's be honest… is it really a South African celebration without someone standing next to the braai saying, “Just one more piece!” 😂😂🔥

Our little ones may be small, but they are already learning one very BIG lesson: we may come from different backgrounds, speak different languages and have different traditions, but together we make one beautiful South Africa. ❤️💛💚💙

Please see our attached poster — we’re celebrating 20 wonderful years of Big Fish Little Fish! 🎂🎈

So many of you have been part of our journey over the years, and we would absolutely love for you to come and celebrate this special milestone with us.

We’re putting together a 20-year photo collage and would love your help! 📸

If you have any photos from 2006–2009, please share them with me. I seem to have a missing gap in our collection from those years, and I’d love to fill it with some special memories!

Most importantly, please book the date and come and see us! We would love to catch up with all our past pupils and see how you have grown over the years. ❤️

There will be a cake sale and other fun activities on the day, so bring the family and come celebrate 20 years of memories, friendships and growth with us!

🎨🐠✨ BIG FISH LITTLE FISH HAD A COLOURFUL WIN! ✨🐠🎨

When Volkswagen invited our 3–6 year olds to take part in their colouring-in competition, our little artists grabbed their crayons and showed the world their creativity! 🌈🖍️

Out of all the amazing entries from schools and children who participated, we are beyond proud to announce that Bobbi and Fiona were selected as finalists! ⭐👏

🏆 Bobbi achieved 3rd place in her age group!
🥇 Fiona took 1st place in her age group!

Girls, your creativity, confidence, and beautiful artwork made us incredibly proud! 💙🐟 We are so proud of you! 🌟

But the surprises didn’t stop there… 🎉
Michelle was invited to attend the event on Saturday, not knowing that Big Fish Little Fish had another exciting achievement waiting! 😍

🏅 Our school won 2nd place for the most entries overall! 🥳🎨

What a wonderful achievement for our learners, our teachers, and our whole Big Fish Little Fish family! 💙🌊

A huge WELL DONE to every single learner who picked up a crayon and took part. Every picture showed imagination, creativity, and the beautiful hearts of our little artists. 🖍️❤️

Our little Clownfish explorers have been busy diving into a world of wonder! 🌊✨ From tiny eggs to tiny discoveries, every little hand, curious mind and big imagination is growing through play. 💛

Warning: This video may cause snorting, giggling, and an uncontrollable urge to tag a friend who needs a laugh. 🐟😂

We asked our teachers to answer a simple question... without telling them their faces had gone full-on FISH FACE. 🐠 The result? Pure, unfiltered (well, VERY filtered) joy. They didn't just roll with it — they made a splash! 🌊

This is what happens when a school full of heart also happens to be a school full of hilarious.

Big Fish Little Fish isn't just where your little one learns and grows — it's where the laughs are just as big as the love. ❤️😂

We have the BEST ladies at Big Fish Little Fish Montessori, and we are so blessed to have such an amazing group of women pouring their hearts into these little ones every single day. 💙

Something FISHY is going on at Big Fish Little Fish school in the RainbowFish class! 🐟🎯

Our little ones have officially entered their "ball is life" era — catching, tossing, hula-hooping, and having an absolute reel good time along the way!

🌈 From perfect hoop landings to championship-worthy catches, our tiny athletes are proving that great things come in small (fish) packages. 🐠

Coordination? Check.
Confidence? Check.
Giggles for days? Double check.

Who knew learning to catch a ball could also teach patience, balance, and the fine art of "it's not my turn yet"? 😂

🧵✨ String Theory... for babies! ✨🧵

Our little ones (3-18 months) have been busy exploring our DIY yarn-pulling board! 🌈👶 Tiny hands, big concentration — pulling, tugging, and discovering colours and textures one string at a time. 🎨💫

Why we love this activity:
🖐️ Fine Motor Skills – Pinching and pulling strengthens those little finger muscles, laying the groundwork for writing, buttoning, and self-feeding later on!

🧠 Concentration & Focus – Watch those little brains problem-solve as they figure out how to grip and pull each string through.

🌈 Sensory Exploration – Different textures, colours, and resistance levels give their senses a wonderful workout!

🎉 Fun fact: Babies' fine motor skills develop from the inside out — starting with the whole arm, then the wrist, and finally those precise little fingers! This activity hits every stage.
We think our tiny learners are absolutely "stringing" along beautifully on their development journey! 😉🧶

🌈✨ Squish, squash, and let the imagination flow! ✨🌈

Our little ones are having a smashing good time getting hands-on with playdough! 🙌 Who knew learning could be this much fun? We knead to do this more often! 😜

Why playdough is more than just squishy fun:
🧠 Boosts fine motor skills — rolling, pinching, and cutting strengthens those little hand muscles for future writing and self-care skills
🎨 Sparks creativity & imagination — every blob becomes a flower, a star, or a secret masterpiece
🤝 Encourages social skills — sharing tools, taking turns, and chatting away while creating together

🌟 Fun fact: Playdough wasn't originally a toy at all — it was invented in the 1930s as a wallpaper cleaner before someone realized kids loved playing with it more than cleaning walls with it! 🧽➡️🧸
