Our little stars showed patience, resilience, and wonderful sportsmanship.
Well done, boys and girls! ππ³β€οΈ

On 23 April 2026 we celebrated World Book Day at The Oaks Academy.
The reason we celebrate World Book Day every year at TOA is to encourage a love for reading beyond the classroom.

Our Oakies had so much fun commemorating Earth Day - we had a fashion show where learners had to make their outfit from only recycled materials. Days like these are so important in helping learners understand environmental stewardship, the impact we have on the planet and developing sustainable habits - way to go Oakies! πππππ

Grade 1 Occupational Therapy Session for this week:
Todayβs session was all about building strong bodies and even stronger brains.
Our children had so much fun practicing their βSuperman Poseβ β lying on their tummies while lifting their arms and legs off the ground. This powerful activity helps to strengthen core and back muscles and improve the posture needed for sitting at a desk and focusing in class.
We then added a fun challenge: passing a plate using a peg from one side of the body to the other, encouraging crossing the midline. This is such an important skill for reading, writing, and overall coordination, as it helps both sides of the brain work together more efficiently. We then moved on to finding beads in play dough and ended with a writing activity.
Through play-based activities like these, we are developing:
Core strength
Bilateral coordination
Hand strength and control
Brain-body connection
Learning through movement is always a win!
