WCED REGISTRATIONS OPEN FOR GRADE R, GRADE 1 AND GRADE 8 FOR 2027.

Everyone welcome to come to our Advice Office at the Commando Hall and we will help you register your children for next year.

The Western Cape Education Department has officially opened the on-time admissions period for Grade R, Grade 1 and Grade 8 for the 2027 academic year.

The window opened on 10 March 2026 and will remain open until 14 April 2026.

Interested in a career in Merchandising?

This amazing course starts on Tuesday 10 March at the Commando Hall /Community centre.

❤️VALENTINE’S DAY CELEBRATION❤️

On Friday 13th February WUCT hosted a Valentine’s Day lunch for the Elderly of Westlake Village. The lunch was funded by Rotary Club Constantia.

65 elderly persons attended, dressed in red and white. They were treated to a fashion show by young grade R children from Emmanuel Educare Centre. Poems and scripture was read and a short inspirational message was delivered by Sister Louette McCallum, our resident nurse.

Lunch was a delicious local dish Achi (chicken and rice and potatoes). The Rotary president Sandy Whitehead and Rotarian Gordon Slater also attended.

It was a special time and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. A huge thank you to Constantia Rotary Club for their incredible kindness and generosity towards the elderly people of Westlake.

Yesterday we had the privilege of hosting Uzwelo Youth Development and the Wortelgat Gap Year students as part of their Social Justice Immersion Trip.

Their journey is all about learning, listening, and stepping into the stories of South Africa’s communities. At Westlake United Church Trust (WUCT), our Community Worker George guided them through the heart of Westlake, where they encountered the energy of the village and the resilience of its people. The students also explored the various departments within our centre, gaining insight into how we serve children, families, and the broader community.

We are thankful for this opportunity to walk alongside Uzwelo in shaping young leaders who carry a vision for justice and transformation.

Today we gathered at Westlake United Church Trust to honor Madiba’s legacy through 67 minutes of service, unity, and giving back to our community.

We began the day in our hall with a heartfelt rendition of the South African National Anthem, followed by a brief history of why we celebrate Mandela Day – a reminder of the values of compassion, justice, and community upliftment that Nelson Mandela stood for.

We were incredibly blessed to have so many hands and hearts come together.

A HUGE SHOUT OUT TO THE FOLLOWING :

Virgin Active SA Westlake who kindly served warm soup and bread, spreading warmth and care.

The BAHA’I MOVEMENT who joined us in painting our Emmanuel Educare Preschool with kids joyfully taking part in the fun!

PSG STEENBERG who made a generous donation of clothing to support those in need.

SAPS and IEC officials who helped with the Hilltoppers elderly club, handing out food and blankets.

DIEGO CORNELIUS from RAISING LEADERS OF TOMORROW FOUNDATION, together with CLOSE THE LOOP who distributed stationery packs to our youth – a big boost as they continue their educational journeys.

RE/MAX and CIRTECH who both contributed time and resources to prepare and paint our walls, helping to uplift and brighten our space.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who came, contributed, and supported this special day. It was truly a beautiful time of coming together in the spirit of Ubuntu – “I am because we are.”
