A few times a year we take a trip to the old age home in Pinelands where Aunty Joy joins us to play piano and sing some songs to the granny’s and grandpas! The children always find it such a treat and it brings us such joy to make each day special for everyone.
Thank you to Aunty Joy at Pinelands Grove retirement centre for allowing us to spread joy and music to the granny’s and grandpas ♥️🌺

A Montessori directress prepares themselves physically, intellectually and spiritually when working within a Montessori classroom. They need to look within themselves and notice that, when becoming a Montessori directress, it doesn’t only happen in the classroom.
You are Montessori all the time, constantly learning new things, researching, planning, practicing. The model the life long learning of Montessori through your every day life. You become friendly with error, practice patience with others and yourself, observe your body language around children and adults. It is a life long journey you prepare for and always live by.

“The greatest sign of success for a teacher… is to be able to say, ‘The children are now working as if I did not exist.’”

In Montessori, we observe powerful windows of opportunity in a child’s development — known as sensitive periods. These are times when children are especially drawn to certain skills or knowledge. 💡
From movement to language, order to social relationships — recognizing these stages helps us support their natural growth with the right activities at the right time. 🧠🌱

A quote from Maria Montessori about the Sensitive Periods,
“The sensitive periods are of great importance in education. They show us how to prepare the environment, so that it may respond to the need which a child shows at a particular moment.”
— Maria Montessori, The 1946 London Lectures
Maria Montessori felt deeply about the sensitive periods, she saw them as vital and natural guides for development, which is why it is so important to us as educators to guide the children support them through these phases in their life.

Often parents tend to ask us to explain what we mean when we discuss Montessori and their child and most of the time we use vocabulary that they don’t understand, we use those words for a reason within the classroom, they reflect deep respect for the child as well as the philosophy behind the Montessori method. 🍎
