Gypsy Jazz workshop—it's happening!

Gypsy jazz violin legend Tim Kliphuis returns to Cape Town! On 28 September he holds his ‘Django’ workshop for all instruments.
Tim will work on topics such as timing, bowing, the ‘pompe’ (rhythm), slurs and improvisation on chord changes.

In our 52 years we've had many amazing jazz musicians come through our doors as teachers and students.

Here's an interview with Merton Barrow, the founder of the Jazz Workshop,on our 40th birthday.
We're now 52 years old and still going strong.
Merton is also still teaching violin, vibraphone and piano.

Jeff the drummer calls the jazz workshop the 'Hogwaarts of Cape Town, the place where magic happens.' The Barrow family will now be required to rent and renovate another building in the area for their jazz workshop.…
