[LIVE] The Annual General Meeting of the Convocation is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 20 June 2026, from 11h00 to 13h00 at the Life Sciences Auditorium, Brian O’Connell Life Sciences Building, Robert Sobukwe Road, Bellville.

To accommodate Convocation members who are unable to attend the AGM in person, the meeting will be live-streamed on YouTube and may be accessed using the link below. The live-streaming of the AGM is for viewing purposes only. It is not a virtual meeting, and Convocation members who view the live-streamed meeting will thus not be included in the quorum of the AGM and will not be able to participate in the meeting.

[TENDER OPPORTUNITY] The University of the Western Cape (UWC) invites established Category II Discretionary Financial Service Providers to submit proposals for the role of
Investment Multi-Manager. This appointment is central to the ex*****on of the University’s institutional investment strategy.

The bidder must be a company incorporated and registered in the Republic of South Africa and be financially sound, with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in investment multi-management. Additionally, bidders must have current Assets Under Management (AUM) exceeding R100 billion, of which a minimum of R30 billion must be invested within South Africa and must have a proven track record of managing fund mandates with a minimum value of R2 billion. Bidders to be fully compliant with Financial Service Provider License requirements and Department of Labour regulations, and possess the requisite skilled human capital and expertise to service large-scale institutional portfolios effectively.

This mandate requires a partner with deep technical knowledge of institutional products and a proven history of delivering sophisticated portfolio management services. : As South Africa commemorates 50 years since the Soweto Uprising of 16 June 1976, University of the Western Cape Rector and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Robert Balfour, reflects on the enduring legacy of youth activism and social justice.

The message features the voices of UWC Master's student Hajar Kagiso Al-Tha'irah Ahjum-Mathee, the Tshisimani Centre for Activist Education and the Community Engagement Unit, whose work continues to advance active citizenship and community engagement.
