22/09/2020

We had an amazing EY Toastmasters meeting on the 22nd Of September. The theme that was chosen by our Toastmaster Magdeleen Cillers was based on our Heritage Month. The theme was centred around celebrating our cultures and the things that make us unique.

Our Madam President Yumna Aysen did an amazing job opening up the meeting. She reminded us that we should always celebrate our wins no matter how small they are.

We were also excited to induct two new members to our club. Gugu Ncapayi and Kwakho Solake.

We were honoured to have had four amazing speakers.

Our first speaker was Kwakho Solake. This was her ice breaker speech and she delivered a powerful speech titled, โ€œLife Is An Artwork.โ€ She told us about her upbringing and how it was like growing up in the Eastern Cape. She inspired us and told us to create art and collaborate with people that help us create the best artwork.

Our second speaker was Magdeleen Cilliers with a speech titled, โ€œThe Birds, The Bees and Some Cookies.โ€ She gave us a very informative speech on different kinds of plants and crops from coffee trees to cacao trees. She informed us about the different tools that are involved in plant breeding.

Our third speaker was Yumna Aysen and she delivered a speech titled, โ€œThe Circle Of Safetyโ€ She spoke on the concept of safe spaces and the power of mentorship. She spoke about how trust is at the foundation of creating safe environments which are integral for organisations and businesses. She inspired us to build relationships and leave a legacy.

Our fourth speaker was Cynthia Kanyenze and she delivered a speech titled, โ€œOnce Upon A TImeโ€. She informed us about the ins and outs of Pathways and everything that she has learned in her journey. She inspired us to do the most uncormfortable things so that we can grow.

We had three different evaluators that did an amazing job and gave our speakers great insights into their speeches. Our evaluators were:

1. Celeste Sirin who evaluated Kwakho's speech
2. Gugu Ncapayi who evaluated Magdeleen's speech
3. Nashad Soeker who evaluated Yumna's speech
3. Yanga Gceya who evaluated Cynthia's speech

We had our lovely member Natasha Ndlebe lead the Table Topics session part of our meeting. She did a splendid job and came up with some great topics.

Our Winners of the evening were as follows:

1. Best Speaker was awarded to Cynthia
2. Best Evaluator was awarded to Yanga
3. Best Table Topics was awarded to Rutendo

We definitely had a sensational meeting. We look forward to seeing you at our next online EY Toastmasters meeting.

We had an amazing EY Toastmasters meeting on the 1st of September 2020. The theme that was chosen by our Madam President and Toastmaster of the evening, Yumna Aysen, was "Celebrating You". The theme was centred around letting go of the need to be in control.

We were honoured to have had two amazing speakers.

Our first speaker was Janet Schuiling. Janet delivered a powerful speech titled, โ€œGive Your Intuition Some Airtime". Janet inspired us to get back in touch with our intuition and that we should let go of fear.

Our second speaker was Gerald Pietersen with a speech titled, โ€œThe Eulogy Of Death Be Not Proud.โ€ Gerald delivered a beautiful poetic piece about death. It was a heart rendering speech that made us see death in a different way.

We had a group evaluation that was lead and facilitated by Nashad Soeker. He did an amazing job of giving constructive feedback to our main speakers of the evening.

We had Lindokuhle Nkosi lead the Table Topics session part of our meeting. She did a splendid job and came up with some great topics.
