✨Community Visit & Discussion | Langa✨
Our students had a meaningful and memorable visit to Langa with the Zeitz MOCAA Centre for Art Education.
The day offered an opportunity to explore the rich history of the Langa community, engage in discussion, and meet some inspiring people. A special highlight was our visit to Gallery , where we were warmly welcomed into a space of creativity, storytelling, and connection.
Thank you to everyone who made the visit so generous and enriching. We will be back soon — watch this space for updates.

✨Alumni Spotlight & Success Story✨
We are proud to celebrate I need to talk about living room, a beautiful and contemplative presentation by CTCA Contemporary Art Honours graduate and lecturer
Recently exhibited at RMB Latitudes Art Fair at Shepstone Gardens in Johannesburg, Jappie’s quiet, carefully composed roomscapes explored absence, memory and the traces people leave behind. Through domestic interiors, symbolic details and a deep sense of stillness, the work invited viewers to linger with what remains when human presence is felt, rather than seen.

Industry collaboration is central to career readiness at the CTCA.✨💼
Our third-year Motion Design students recently visited to present pitches for the narrative animation projects they are currently developing.
This meaningful collaboration invites students to work with real stories compiled from Mamelani alumni, who were previously part of the organisation’s mentorship and support programmes. Mamelani Projects supports young people as they transition into independent life after leaving Child and Youth Care Centres at 18.
Each student was allocated a section of one of eight narratives and tasked with translating it into an animated personal story. During the visit, students presented their storyboards, style frames and animatics to Mamelani staff and alumni, who responded positively to the quality of the work and the sensitivity with which the stories were approached.
Projects like this help students build career-ready skills in pitching, client engagement, research, visual storytelling and responsible creative practice — while showing how motion design can honour lived experience with care and dignity.
