🧼 How to clean your iron:

1. Clean the inside (steam system) with vinegar
This helps remove mineral buildup (limescale).
What you need:
White vinegar
Distilled water

Steps:
Mix solution
1 part vinegar + 1 part distilled water
Fill the water tank
Pour the mixture into the iron’s reservoir (don’t overfill)
Heat the iron
Turn it to the steam setting (medium heat, not max)
Steam it out
Hold the iron over a sink or towel
Press the steam button repeatedly to flush the system
Let it steam for a few minutes
Let it sit (optional)
Turn off the iron and let the solution sit inside for ~10–15 minutes if buildup is heavy
Rinse thoroughly
Empty the tank
Refill with clean distilled water
Steam again to flush out vinegar residue

⚠️ Important:
Don’t leave vinegar inside overnight (it can damage internal parts)
Always rinse well to avoid vinegar smell during ironing

✨ 2. Clean the soleplate with toothpaste
This removes burnt residue and stains from the bottom plate.
What you need:
Plain white toothpaste (not gel, not abrasive whitening crystals)
Soft cloth or sponge
Steps:
Make sure the iron is unplugged and cool
Apply toothpaste
Rub a small amount onto the soleplate (avoid steam holes)
Gently scrub
Use a soft cloth in circular motions
Wipe clean
Use a damp cloth to remove all toothpaste
Clean steam holes (optional)
Use a cotton swab or toothpick carefully
Test heat
Turn on the iron and run steam briefly to ensure everything is clear

👍 Extra tips
Use distilled water regularly to prevent buildup
Clean every 1–2 months if you use the iron often
For stubborn residue, a mix of baking soda + water can help (gentler than harsh cleaners)

Let’s talk ironing 👔
Part of our housekeeper training includes teaching housekeepers how to hang items on rails and how to read labels of garments to ensure it is washed, hung and ironed properly to avoid damage.

👕 Understanding Ironing Symbols
Every garment label has a small iron icon with dots inside it. These dots tell you how much heat to use—just like the settings on a real iron.

🔹 One dot (•)
Low heat
Safe for delicate fabrics like silk, satin, or synthetic materials (e.g. polyester)
⚠️ Too much heat can melt or scorch the fabric

🔹 Two dots (••)
Medium heat
Suitable for fabrics like wool or blends
A balanced, safer setting for most everyday clothing

🔹 Three dots (•••)
High heat
Used for strong fabrics like cotton or linen
Best for removing deep wrinkles

🚫 Crossed-out iron
Do NOT iron
Use steaming instead if needed

🔥 Connecting to the Real Iron
Most irons show the same dot system or fabric names:
• = Low / Synthetic
•• = Medium / Wool
••• = High / Cotton

So housekeepers should match the label dots to the iron setting before ironing.
💡 Training Tip
Encourage housekeepers to:
Always check the label first
Start with a lower heat if unsure
Test on a hidden area if the fabric looks delicate.

Front Loader Cleaning Steps:🧺

During our in-depth in-house training program, we demonstrate and practice appliance cleaning to maintain the cleanliness and efficiency of all household appliances. Proper cleaning of a front-loader washing machine helps prevent odours, mould growth, and detergent build-up.

1. Clean the Detergent Drawer
Remove the detergent drawer from the machine.
Rinse it under warm running water.
Use a small brush or old toothbrush to remove detergent residue and mould.
Dry and reinstall once clean.

2. Clean the Door Seal (Rubber Gasket)
Open the washing machine door.
Gently pull back the rubber gasket.
Wipe inside the folds using a cloth with warm water and Multi-purpose cleaner.
Remove lint, hair, or trapped debris.

3. Clean the Filter Drain-trap
Locate the filter panel at the bottom front of the machine.
Place a towel underneath to catch water.
Unscrew the filter and remove lint, coins, or debris.
Rinse the filter thoroughly and reinstall it securely.

4. Clean the Drum
Run an empty hot wash cycle.
Add:
1 cup white vinegar

This helps dissolve detergent build-up and eliminate odours.

5. Wipe the Exterior
Use a damp microfiber cloth to wipe the control panel, door, and exterior surfaces.
Dry with a clean cloth to prevent streaks.

6. Air the Machine
Leave the door slightly open after cleaning.
This allows the drum and seal to dry and prevents mould growth.

7. Maintenance Schedule
Wipe the seal: after each days use
Clean the detergent drawer: weekly
Run a cleaning cycle: monthly
Check the filter: monthly
