🌱 From our garden to our kitchen — grown with love in Langa! 🧡

Look at this beautiful harvest from the LEAP 1 school garden! Beetroot, spring onions, green peppers, and leafy greens 🥬 all making their way straight to our learners’ lunch plates. 🥗🫑

We are so proud of our students and staff who show up every day to water, w**d, and care for this garden. It takes patience, dedication, and a whole lot of heart ❤️ and the results speak for themselves!

A huge thank you also to our generous donors who provided the seedlings and compost that made this harvest possible. You planted more than vegetables you planted opportunity, nutrition, and a sense of pride in our community. 🙏🏽

This is what it looks like when a school grows together in every sense of the word. 💚🖤🧡

As we approach the end of the term, something truly special continues to unfold across our LEAP schools 💛

At LEAP, education doesn’t end in the classroom, it lives in the hearts and actions of our learners.

Social development is not an “extra” for us. It is woven into who we are. Every learner actively participates in community outreach throughout the year, showing up with compassion, humility, and purpose.

Our learners are:
✨ Reading to little ones at ECD centres
✨ Assisting with homework and tutoring peers
✨ Serving meals at feeding schemes
✨ Supporting disability homes and senior citizen facilities
✨ Deep cleaning and restoring community spaces
✨ Playing, laughing, and building meaningful connections with children and the elderly

They don’t just visit these spaces, they bring life, dignity, and care into them.

From helping feed those in need, to sitting patiently and reading a story, to rolling up their sleeves and cleaning spaces that matter — it is beautiful to witness.

These are not moments we plan for show.
This is who our learners are.

We are incredibly proud of the young people we are growing, not only academically strong, but socially conscious, compassionate, and deeply committed to making a difference in the world 🌍

Drop a ball. Discover calculus. Change a mindset. 🙌🏽🔥
LEAP 3 hosted the most 🔥 Maths Festival this week — and we are still buzzing!
The Ubuntu Maths Institute x Teach With Africa through and showed our Grade 10s AND Grade 12s exactly what maths can look like when it’s alive, collaborative, and FUN.
Grade 12s literally used a falling ball to unlock calculus in real time. Speed. Height. Rate of change. All of it — no textbook needed first. 🎯
This is what we believe:

🧮 Maths is fun.

🤝🏽 Maths is collaborative.

💥 Every learner can do it. Thank you & — we see you and we are GRATEFUL. 🧡🖤

Calculus. Play. Discovery. All in one day at LEAP 3! 🙌🏽

We had the most incredible sessions this pass week when Ubuntu Maths Institute (UMI) brought Teach with Africa (TWA) to our campus for a Maths Festival and our learners absolutely loved it!

Our Grade 10s explored maths through play, proving that when you make learning hands-on and fun, something magical happens in the classroom.

Then our Grade 12s got into it with a calculus lesson using a real-life scenario, dropping a ball from a height and calculating speed and change across its entire path. Minds. Blown. 🤯

The biggest takeaway? Maths is for everyone. Every learner in that room left knowing they can understand it, engage with it, and pass it! 💪🏽

Big love to The Ubuntu Maths Institute and Teach With Africa for pouring into our LEAP family. This is community in action. 🧡

She said it better than we ever could.

“Your community shapes who you are and who you become. We come from a place where you see someone who wanted to be an engineer — but today he’s a drunkard. When you see people who had dreams but didn’t become who they wanted to be, you start fearing the same thing will happen to you. People project their fears, and what they faced, onto us— so we also start doubting ourselves. But when you are someone who studies at LEAP, that is a big deal. And they will say: ‘You think too much of yourself.’”

- One of our LEAP Crossroads students, addressing the barriers preventing success for her and her classmates.

This is exactly why the work matters. The Hands On Foundation and LEAP Schools exist to give students like her a different environment to grow into, one where ambition isn’t punished, and where dreaming big is the expectation, not the exception.
