udent is now in his third year at UCT doing a double
degree. He started with us when he was in Grade 7 and pushed
himself in his studies so that he had finished his AS subjects by the
time he was 15 and was at university at the young age of 16!
4. Recent exam results for May 2017 for VTC students where there was
a pass mark achieved of 95%, and 90% of those achieved above a C
grade for their exams.
5. With over 19 years of experience and a very high pass percentage
for our students in the CIE exams every year, our record speaks for
itself. What makes VTC different to other schools? With over 19 years of teaching students, VTC has become known in South Africa for its high quality tuition and education standards. This is shown in their students results which are on average very high compared to other government - and private schools. Students at VTC are able to study on their own in a quiet, supervised environment, where they have scheduled individual tutor lessons and progress monitoring sessions from experienced tutors to ensure accountability for reaching their exam goals. We find that the relaxed atmosphere encourages students to achieve more because they are not pressured by their peers or short-ordered teachers. They also do not have to move from class to class, so the students accomplish more in their school day. One of our aims is to instill in the students that the success of their results depends on them and their work ethic. They are now responsible for their own learning and what they put in they will get out. The modules used for the International British syllabus are especially designed for individual study and the students are encouraged to get on quietly with their work, while still being able to ask any of the tutors for help as many times as needed. The tutors are all experienced, dedicated teachers and also mark the work and set tests to test that the students have understood their work. There is also supervision and extra assistance from tutors available between scheduled tutor lessons, as well as scheduled tests and internal exams prepared for your child to give them the best chance of passing their exams. What syllabus do we use? We use a syllabus that is internationally recognised leader in education especially in the United Kingdom and provides a broad and balanced study across a wide range of subjects, using learner-centred and enquiry-based approaches to learning. Learners can learn at their own pace making it the perfect option for students that are the following categories:

1. Learners that are slower to grasp concepts are particularly nurtured in this environment, and find the one-on-one concept far less stressful. These students often lack self-confidence, through years of the government school system failing them with negative reinforcement and teaching methods. These students are often "left behind" or frustrated in the overcrowded classrooms in South Africa's government schools that move at a fast rate through the work. Therefore by using the International system, these students can progress at their own pace and make sure that they fully understand the relevant content before writing examinations.

2. Academic-focused students that would like to finish school a year or two earlier than the average students and are not held back by slower learners or disciplinary issues of bigger classes. At VTC we have had students enter university at the young age of 16 years old and become successful professionals due to them being able to write multiple examinations at a faster rate. Parents can save up to 2 years or more of fees if their children are high achieving learners who work hard and work through modules at a faster rate than others.

3. Students that are constantly travelling and cannot commit to a rigid government school system and are looking for a more flexible schooling system that can accommodate their ability to learn.

4. Students that enjoy a structured learning environment with one-on-one teaching, are accepted for who they are, and would like to work at their own pace and do their best to give themselves the best chance of success after school. We have both full-time options and part-time options available for the high school students. What's the difference between Part-Time & Full-Time options?

1. Part-Time students study at home and either
(i) face-to-face on VTC campus in Fish Hoek or
(ii) remotely via internet for specific tutoring lessons and progress monitoring sessions from our team of dedicated tutors. There is also scheduled tests and internal exams (which are included in the fees) prepared for your child to give them the best chance of passing their exams.

2. Full-Time students come to the VTC campus in Fish Hoek daily, where they have an allocated work space to study where a tutor oversees that they remained focus on their work. They receive tutoring lessons and progress monitoring sessions (which are included in the fees) from our team of dedicated tutors. How do Exams work? Internal exams are also written in June and November to monitor their progress so that the student can get an idea of when he can enter for the external exams. External Exams to be written are the International Exams. For students on campus, these will be written at exams centres based at either the International School in Hout Bay, or at El Shaddai School in Durbanville. For online students, there are a number of of options available throughout South African and the world. Contact us for more information about these exam centres. When do students write their Exams? The students write these external exams in June or October annually, so they do not have to finish them in one exam session. What about extra lessons? We also provide high quality extra lessons tutoring services (both on campus and online) to government syllabus students to assist them with improving their specific subjects that they might need extra assistance with.
