UCT Mathematics Competition
A mathematics competition for high schools in the Western Cape The UCT Maths Competition takes place annually at the University of Cape Town.
It is open to high schools and more than 7000 participants from all over the province take part in the event every year.

Yesterday afternoon just under 100 students participated in the UCT Maths Competition. Today 120 students will write the 2nd round of the SAMF Maths Olympiad.

Good luck to the South African IMO team, currently writing their Day 2 paper. The IMO 2021 is taking place remotely and the four Cape Town participants are writing at the Hexagon PPM offices in Newlands. Hexagon is a sponsor of the UCT Maths Competition.

The Gold Awards for the 2021 UCT Mathematics Competition have been announced. Gold Awards are awarded to the top three pairs and top ten individuals in each grade.
School awards, school ranking and trophies have not been announced yet.

The results for all schools that took part in the UCT Mathematics Competition on Tuesday 4th May have been sent out this morning.
A total of 3183 Individuals and 2253 pairs took part, from 132 schools.
The next round, the UCT Invitational Mathematics Challenge, will take place later this month. Details will be sent to schools later this week. The top performers in the Challenge Round will be invited to take part in the UCT Mathematics Olympiad. There is no charge for participation in the Challenge and Olympiad rounds.
For the first time we will be able to offer, through the generosity of a new sponsor, significant cash prizes for the top students in the overall Competition-Challenge-Olympiad sequence. Details will be announced shortly.

This afternoon the 2021 competition takes place in 132 different schools. We're sorry we can't welcome you onto UCT campus this year, but please share your posts and photos on social media, tagging . We wish you all the best as you take part!
The 2021 UCT Mathematics Competition will take place on Tuesday 4 May 2021. This year the competition takes place in schools instead of the UCT campus to ensure Covid-19 safety. Question papers are being delivered to schools. We have a record entry of over 9300, and we hope your school is looking forward to the event!
