In our 4-5 year old class we only have 2 spaces in our 3-4 year old class we have 2 spaces and in our 18months - 3 year old class we have 4 spaces available for 2022.

Lockdown: Children in pre-Grade R stages won't return to school yet, regulations amended | News24 Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga has amended gazetted directions on the return of school pupils, removing an aspect that relates to early childhood development centres.

DSD has put out an important notice on “Preparation and Planning for the Re-Opening of ECD Centres/Programmes” (which includes unregistered ECD centres).

Please ensure you read the full circular - (https://www.gov.za/sites/default/files/gcis_documents/ecds-preparation.pdf) but here are the key points:

1. ECD centres/programmes may NOT re-open until the Minister of DSD announces a date and the conditions of re-opening.

2. ECD centre/programme staff MAY return to their workplace to prepare for re-opening (subject to the regulations stipulated in 3.1 - 3.4 of pg 2).

3. DSD will be releasing “Standard operating procedures and guidelines for ECD programmes and partial care facilities on COVID-19” which will be available from 23 June 2020. We will share this ASAP.

4. Once these procedures and guidelines are in place at your centre/programme, you need to complete a “Self-Assessment Form” that needs to be submitted online (https://forms.gle/c7y8ZL5W94diuqTS6) or in paper copy to the nearest local/service/ district office of the provincial DSD or the social service organisations rendering partial care services in your area, within two weeks after the date of this Circular. Do not complete the form unless you have completed all the prescribed preparations.

5. NB: The completion and submission of this form does not mean that you can re-open the ECD centre/programme. It may only be re-opened when the Minister of Social Development has announced a date for the re-opening and if you meet all the requirements (sections 4.1 and 4.2).
