“Holy Spirit, make my heart open to the word of God, make my heart open to goodness, make my heart open to the beauty of God every day.”

A beautiful celebration of faith as our Archbishop, His Grace, Archbishop Sithembele Sipuka, conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation on twenty nine Springfield Convent Grade 11 pupils. The Mass was celebrated on Sunday, 20 September at Our Lady of the Visitation, Contantia.

The liturgy was rich in diversity, beautifully reflecting the many cultures and languages that make up our school community and our wider Archdiocese.

The Mass was concelebrated by four priests (Fr Bissell, Fr Addinall, Fr Kumar and Fr Arias) who each play a significant role in the lives of our girls and in the faith journey of our school community.

What a truly joyful and grace-filled celebration as our young people took this important step in their journey of faith. May the gifts of the Holy Spirit continue to guide, strengthen and inspire them.

In Memoriam Keith Richardson
Springfield Convent School, shares with sadness the passing of Keith Richardson, former Head of School.
Keith made his own piece of Springfield history when he became our first Headmaster in 2019. During his time at Springfield, he was passionate about education and deeply committed to the wellbeing and development of our school community.
He embraced the cultural, sporting and spiritual life of the school and wholeheartedly supported the Dominican values and ethos that are at the heart of Springfield Convent. Keith remained a supporter of Springfield post his Headship and was a regular at our music concerts and special events.
We will remember Keith with gratitude for the contribution he made to our school and so many pupils and educators throughout the country.
We extend our sincere condolences to his wife, Pippa, Toto and their family at this time.
“Though we need to weep your loss, You dwell in that safe place in our hearts, Where no storm or night or pain can reach you."

Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace and rise in God’s abundant glory. Amen
