IPSA at Career Day 2026

The International Peace College South Africa (IPSA) was honoured to participate in the QM Youth Career Day, where learners were exposed to a wide range of academic and professional opportunities aimed at helping them make informed decisions about their future.

Representing IPSA, Shaykh Fakhruddin Owaisi, Head of Student Affairs, encouraged learners to pursue careers that not only provide professional success but also contribute positively to society. He reminded the youth that education is not limited to worldly advancement alone, but should also include the pursuit of beneficial Islamic knowledge that shapes character, strengthens faith and develops a sense of purpose.

Drawing on the rich intellectual tradition of Islam, Shaykh Fakhruddin highlighted the importance of knowledge as the foundation of personal growth and civilisational development. He encouraged learners to become individuals who embody the values of knowledge • virtue • civilisation, and to view Islamic studies not as separate from professional development, but as a source of guidance that enriches every field of endeavour.

IPSA extends its appreciation to the organisers for creating a platform that empowers young people to explore their aspirations and engage with institutions committed to their growth and development.

IPSA Lecturer Visits Asalaam Educational Institute in Mzinto

IPSA lecturer Muallima Nontobeko Aisha Mkhwanazi recently visited Asalaam Educational Institute in Mzinto, Durban, where she spent time engaging with young girls and sharing her personal journey of growth, faith and determination.

Drawing from her own experiences, she reminded the learners that success is not reserved for those with perfect circumstances. As a young girl with big dreams, she faced her own challenges and setbacks, but remained committed to her goals and refused to allow her situation to define her future.

The visit formed part of efforts to encourage young people to pursue education, develop confidence in their abilities and recognise their potential to contribute positively to society. The learners were encouraged to dream beyond their immediate realities, embrace opportunities for growth and remain steadfast in their values.

As South Africa observes Youth Month, the visit also highlighted the importance of providing young people with positive examples to look up to. While role models play an important part in shaping aspirations, the greatest example remains our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW), whose character, leadership, compassion and commitment to justice continue to inspire generations.

IPSA remains committed to engaging communities and supporting initiatives that empower young people to become confident, principled and purpose-driven leaders.

From International Peace College South Africa (IPSA) to you, Eid Al Adha Mubarak ✨

From Her Final Letter to a Child’s Smile

The International Peace College South Africa (IPSA) recently collected and handed over teddy bears to the family of the late Marhoomah Farhaana Mugjenkar as part of the Fluffy Toy and Toiletries Drive inspired by her final wishes and concern for children facing illness.

Farhaana, a former IPSA student who courageously battled with a heart condition, left behind a heartfelt letter before her passing in which she called for an initiative dedicated to bringing comfort and joy to children at Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital. In honour of her vision and legacy, the drive aims to collect fluffy toys, whether new or second-hand, toiletries and donations towards the printing of a children’s book.

This initiative stands as a continuation of Farhaana’s compassion, humanity and concern for others despite her own illness. It further reflects how acts of service and mercy continue to leave an impact long after a person has departed from this world.

IPSA calls on members of the public to support the Fluffy Toy and Toiletries Drive and assist in bringing this meaningful initiative to life. Every contribution, no matter how small, has the potential to bring comfort to a child undergoing difficult circumstances.

IPSA also extends its appreciation to the Mugjenkar family for entrusting the institution with helping to honour Farhaana’s niyyah and vision. The institution further thanks every donor, supporter and contributor to the Fluffy Toy and Toiletries Drive, including IPSA students, lecturers, parents and the broader IPSA community whose generosity and support helped bring this initiative to life.

Farhaana’s sister expressed the family’s gratitude, saying, “From my parents and my entire family, we want to say a sincere Jazakallah to you and everyone at IPSA who assisted with honouring my sister’s niyyah. We are so appreciative. May Allah reward everyone abundantly.”

May Allah grant Marhoomah Farhaana Mugjenkar the highest stages of Jannah and allow her legacy of compassion and care to continue benefiting others.

A Student’s Final Wish Continues to Bring Comfort to Children ✨

Photos from International Peace College South Africa - IPSA's post 22/05/2026

The International Peace College South Africa (IPSA) recently had the pleasure of hosting representatives from Wiselife Academy and the Cape Town Ulama Board for a meaningful engagement centred on education, community development and future collaboration.

The meeting created an important space for discussion around how institutions, scholars and community organisations can collectively contribute towards the upliftment of the Ummah through education, ethical leadership, youth development and socially responsive initiatives. Conversations further reflected on the growing need for institutions that are rooted in both knowledge and service to society.

The engagement also explored the importance of strengthening partnerships that invest in the intellectual, spiritual and social wellbeing of communities while responding to contemporary challenges facing Muslim youth and society more broadly.

IPSA appreciates the visit and engagement from both Wiselife Academy and the Cape Town Ulama Board and looks forward to continued collaboration that contributes positively towards the broader Muslim community and society at large.
