Introducing a Tik Tok dance class with a verified Tik Tok influencer/public figure!
Taught by: 🤩

In this class you’ll be learning new dances trending on Tik Tok, it will be a place to just let your hair loose and enjoy! At the end of each lesson we will take videos of the dance so that you can post on your personal Tik Tok to gain a following ! 👯‍♀️👯‍♀️

We are introducing authentic Contemporary dance to our schedule!
The class will be facilitated by the fabulous Chesney Stanfield, who has spent the last two years training at one of the best Contemporary dance companies in the country - Jazzart Dance Theatre

Contemporary dance is a genre of dance performance that developed during the mid-twentieth century and has since grown to become one of the dominant genres for formally trained dancers throughout the world, and often focuses on emotions and storytelling through interpretive choreography.

There are many differences between Jazz and Contemporary dance, and for anyone who has danced them it would be obvious, but here is a brief guide to help you understand in theory…
 Less floor work in Jazz.
 Improvisation is different
Contemporary uses a lot of contact improvisation (using each other’s bodies and weight to create movement) whereas Jazz does not.
 Flow and isolations
There is a fluid quality to Contemporary. There are exceptions to the rule and variations in technique, but generally Contemporary dance often has a fluid and lyrical feeling to it while Jazz often creates a much more syncopated and jerky impression.
 Senses
Because of the way in which it uses gravity and contact improvisation, one could argue that contemporary dance is quite tactile. On the other hand, jazz is more visual and more auditory because of its connection with the music and its relationship with theatre.
