“Do you workout when on vacation?”
A question I’ve been asked SO often recently that I decided to chat about it on the podcast this week!🎧
How I workout has changed over the years but my answer is still generally the same…. “It depends!”
Here’s what I mean ::
🔸 Don’t force it to where you then miss out on parts of your vacay. You’ll remember seeing Machu Picchu, but you won’t remember what you lifted on the trip.
🔸 If you do workout be comfortable with modifying. If your program says back squats and you switch to goblet squats - cool! Something > nothing. This is also why I switched to CoachRx Program Design & Coaching Software for TCY strength, because they “swap” feature is 🤌🏼
🔸Just because you aren’t working out, doesn’t mean you have to neglect movement. Walking to see The Colosseum was one of my favorite things we did in Rome! When my husband and I travel our step count always goes wayyyy into the 15k+ category - and I think it’s the best way to see the world! So basically I take my mile a day habit to the next level!
🔸Dropping into a yoga class is always my fave way to see a new part of a city (and it’s usually how I pick a post flow brunch spot😋). And on calmer getaways (like this weekend we have planned in Duck, NC) - it’s a great way to start your day with some zen! (I’ll be saying 👋🏼 soon Village Yoga • Duck).
Soooo. My answer - it depends. But don’t force it AND still prioritize movement of some sort!
