The annual Cape Winemakers Guild Auction showcases rare and unique wines produced in small quantities exclusively for the auction by the members of the Guild. The wines have undergone rigorous screening by an independent laboratory before being tasted blind and selected by specialist panels of Guild members.
All wines going under the hammer will be offered across two sessions – Friday, 2nd October and Saturday, 3rd October 2026. This Virtual Live Auction takes place at Brickfield Canvas in Cape Town and is conducted by Strauss & Co, South Africa’s leading art and wine auction house.

Two auctions. One shared purpose: celebrating South African winemaking at its finest. 🍷
Each year, the Cape Winemakers Guild hosts two distinct auctions — both offering collectors and wine lovers the opportunity to access rare, limited-edition wines crafted exclusively by Guild members for the Auction.
The Cape Winemakers Guild Auction remains a landmark event on the wine calendar, while the Online Protégé Auction helps support and uplift the next generation of South African winemakers through the Protégé Programme.
Whether you bid in person or online, every bottle tells a story of craftsmanship, mentorship, and the future of fine wine in South Africa.
Save this post as your guide to the 2026 auction season - and keep an eye on our page as we begin unveiling the wines, makers, and moments behind this year’s auctions.

Behind every bottle of fine wine is a series of decisions, moments and years of experience. 🍷
From the vineyard to the cellar, winemaking is a process shaped by patience, precision and an understanding of nature. For Guild Member Andries Burger, every step plays a role in crafting wines that reflect authenticity, structure and a true sense of place.
Because great wine is never rushed. It’s grown, guided and carefully brought to life over time.

No two winemakers see the world, or wine, in quite the same way. And that difference is exactly what makes the Cape Winemakers Guild so special.
Each member brings their own philosophy, personality and perspective into every bottle they create. For Andrea Mullineux, it’s about crafting wines that are anything but ordinary.
“A good wine to everyone is a great wine to no one. And that, for me, is the essence of what I am trying to achieve behind my Cape Winemakers Guild Auction wines: wines that are rare, wines that can provoke your thoughts, your feelings, your emotions.”
It’s this individuality, this willingness to create wines with character, conviction and emotion, that continues to shape the legacy of the Guild. 🍷

The future of South African wine is already taking shape. 🍷
Through the Cape Winemakers Guild Protégé Programme, the next generation of viticulturists, winemakers and industry leaders are given the opportunity to learn, grow and refine their craft alongside some of the country’s most respected wine professionals.
Built on mentorship, knowledge sharing and hands-on experience, the programme is more than education, it is an investment in the future of South African wine.
Because legacy means creating opportunities for what comes next. 🍇✨
