THE PROVINCIAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT OFFERS CONTRACT EDUCATION ASSISTANT POSITIONS TO UNEMPLOYED YOUTH (UP TO 35 YEARS).

Masibambane Secondary School is offering temporary Education Assistant positions to the unemployed youth of the Province, up to the age of 35 years old from 1 December 2020 until 31 March 2021.
The Western Cape Education Department is initiating a drive to create employment for the unemployed youth who have an interest in education and the community in which they reside.
Duties/ tasks
Among other things, Education Assistants will be required to prepare the classroom for teaching and learning and ensure that teaching materials are available and ready for use. Hand out workbooks/ textbooks to learners. Preparing mark sheets, keeping of records, capturing of marks. Distribute question papers, worksheets, classwork books, marked scripts to learners. Assist the teacher with photocopying of question papers, work sheets etc. Support the teacher to manage behaviour in the classroom. Help learners with their educational and social development; maintain a safe, secure and clean classroom environment; oversee learners out of the classroom and during lunch breaks; supervise group activities of learners and carry out administrative tasks as required by the school.
Requirements
Candidates must be qualified unemployed graduates (NQF6/7 or higher) or have an NQF level 4 (Matric) qualification.
Good organisational skills; flexibility and creativity; basic IT skills; enjoy working with children and young adults; patience, confidence and a compassionate attitude; good literacy and numeracy skills; ability to manage groups of learners and deal with challenging behaviour and ability to communicate in English and one other official language.
Applicants may not be studying currently, employed or in training.
Remuneration
The stipend paid to assistants will be R3 500 per month before the deduction of 1% for UIF (R35).
Closing date
The closing date is 16 November 2020, and it is envisaged that the successful candidates will begin at schools on 1 December 2020.

Among other things, General School Assistants will be required to render services amongst others as IT Support Workers, General Maintenance Workers (infrastructure maintenance), Care and Support Workers

, Administrative Support Workers. Help school management team in maintaining of a safe, secure and clean school, classroom and administrative environment.
Requirements
With or without an NQF 4 qualification (matric) or Year 4 Schools of Skills qualifications or higher qualifications. Call for applications: Department of Science and Innovation’s National Youth Service Programme

Unemployed graduates (18-35 years of age) are invited to apply to join the 2020/21 intake for the Department of Science and Innovation’s National Youth Service Programme. A total of 550 places are available, mainly for science, technology, engineering and mathematics graduates.

The programme, which is part of the government-wide National Youth Service initiative, places selected volunteers at various institutions (e.g. schools, universities, science councils and NGOs) across the country, allowing them to gain workplace experience for 12 months while offering a service to the community.

All Grade 10 English FAL learners to complete following tasks. Please note, this includes my class as well as the classes of Mr Gelem and Mrs Ncusane.
Dialogue. Refer to page 41 of Platinum. You may change the topic of discussion as long as it remains a dialogue.
Business Letter of Complain. Refer to page 148 of Platinum.
Sample Examination Paper 1. Refer to page 276 of Platinum.
Prepared Speech - minimum 3 pages. You may use the list of topics given at the end of term one or choose your own topic. There must be evidence of research and proof of editing by someone senior in terms of level of education.
Answer the questions on chapter four to eight, given to you at the end of term one.
Please keep a diary of your experiences and thoughts during the period of lockdown. I would love to read them once school reopens.
The Corona virus pandemic has highlighted the social inequalities in SA. Think of creative ways in which government and society at large may be able to bridge the divide.
The pandemic and the consequent lockdown has also highlighted the impact of man on the climate. Think of creative ways in which we may be able to reduce our carbon footprint.
It is in times like these that we must delve into the depths of our being and show strength and fortitude. Do what our honourable president tells you to do and we shall overcome.

My eldest niece, a medical doctor in Newcastle. She visited Masi B in the Easter Holidays and was amazed at our learners' commitment, seeing them attending holiday classes in their numbers.
