MANDELA MONTH JULY 2022

Fikelela Aids Project an outreach initiative of the Anglican Diocese of Cape Town loves celebrating Mandela Day at our Child and Youth Care Centre in Khayelitsha. 67 minutes in action, explaining to our children the origin of Mandela day and what the 67 minutes meant was quite an eye opener for the young ones.
For the first time in 2 & ½ years we were able to allow visitors at the facility. The young children had mixed emotions and were quite overwhelmed by all the visitors that they received. They eventually started warming up and enjoyed the engagements, from pretty lip glosses to stickers on their cheeks, playing with balls and bean bags, receiving lovely KFC snack burgers, add hope t shirts , little drawstring bags, fluffy fleece blankets, toiletry items , groceries and the list continues.
A special thanks to all our donors Entersekt, IMATU, University of Stellenbosch research department, KFC, Abba Adoptions and to all the Donors who had to cancel there will always be another opportunity.

Your gifts are appreciated and acknowledged and your time that you spent with our children was most valuable. Let us join hands in being the vehicle of hope.

Thank you for touching lives and making a difference to our world.

CANDLE LIGHT MEMORIAL
Join us on the third Sunday in May as we celebrate International Candle Light Memorial. A day we remember all who have gone before us and all of us who live with HIV and Aids. It would be nice to light a candle and place a red ribbon on the candle and pray the following prayer to commemorate International Candle Light Memorial.

Prayer:
We pray for greater awareness of HIV and AIDS,
For greater dignity and rights of people living with HIV and AIDS,
For more compassion and care,
For the rejection of discrimination and stigmatization,
For wider prevention activities that address root causes of vulnerability,
For efficient mobilization of resources and treatments,
For increased access to treatment and care,
For support for those left behind to grieve the loss of their loved ones,
For trust and hope in our God. Amen
