With heavy hearts we say goodbye to a true cornerstone of Buren High School, Ms A Du Plooy. A devoted educator who gave more than 35 years of her life to Buren High School before her retirement in 2017.

Ms Du Plooy was more than just a teacher — she was a guiding light, a steady presence, and a source of strength for generations of learners. Her classroom was a place of discipline, warmth, and encouragement, where many found not only knowledge, but also belief in themselves.

She carried her passion for education with grace and dedication, leaving an imprint on every life she touched.

To her colleagues, she was not just a fellow educator but a dear friend and confidant. Over the many years at Buren High School, she built lasting bonds with those she taught alongside sharing not only classrooms and staffrooms, but laughter, challenges, and countless memories.

The staff of Buren was not just her workplace; it was her second family.

To past pupils, she was the teacher who never gave up on you.
To parents, she was a trusted mentor who helped shape your children’s futures.
To the community, she was a pillar of commitment and care.

Even after her retirement, her legacy continued to live on in the values she instilled, the lessons she taught, and the countless success stories of those who once sat in her classroom.

Today, we mourn the loss of an extraordinary woman, but we also celebrate a life well lived a life of service, compassion, and unwavering dedication to education. Her presence will be deeply missed by all her colleagues and the many friends she made at Buren High School a place she always considered her other home.

May her soul rest in peace, and may her legacy continue to inspire us all.
Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.

Buren High School extends heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, past pupils, parents, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
