Our Story
This Page was started in the 1st half of 2011 by Deon February ([email protected]) while he was on sick leave hoping to have it incorporated into the life of Range High School. From January 2012 rather, this Page became a depository for pictures of school life (many of which was taken by Deon himself), after he retired due to ill health. Isak Muller (ex-student) was added as Editor to the Page on 23 April 2020.
Range High School is an Afrikaans medium school in Matroosfontein, Western Cape, South Africa. Range High School was established in 1981 by the Apartheid government of South-Africa specifically for staff and learners classified as coloureds. The school opened with about 300 pupils in standard 6 and 7(today’s equivalent to grade 8 and 9).
The first principal was Mr. Wicomb. Other principals to follow were: Mr. Botha, Mr. Daniels, Mr. L Liedeman, Mr. L de Wet, Mr. J Kayster and incumbent(2018) Mr. C Arendse. The school, also known as Range Secondary School is a government school that falls under the auspices of the Western Cape Education Department.
