Today two learners from each Grade 6 class came to visit Mrs Thompson for tea with the principal. It was a special time of chatting and laughing and reflecting on the year so far.

From tomorrow until 20 November, we’re getting behind our Springboks and bringing the Bok spirit to Sun Valley! 🏉🔥

Every Friday is Bok Friday, so let’s show our support by wearing your Springbok/South Africa shirts, jerseys, caps, socks and accessories. 🇿🇦

And remember… it’s NOT a civvies day! 😄 Learners should still wear their normal school uniform, with their Bok gear added to show who we’re backing.

Every game now matters as we head towards the placement playoffs and Finals Day! With 96 learners, 8 drafted teams and an incredible group of sponsors behind them, the Lunch Time League has become a real highlight of the school week.

And while the rivalry is real, the biggest winner is still football, community and school spirit. 💙💛

A huge congratulations to our U9 Chess Team, who recently showed fantastic focus, teamwork, and determination to claim victory at the District South Mixed Chess Championships!

🌍🎶 Ms Van Niekerk Takes the World Stage!

We are incredibly proud of our Head of Music, Ms Van Niekerk, who recently presented two research papers at the 37th World Conference of the International Society for Music Education (ISME) in Montreal, Canada.

Her first presentation explored Digital Gamification and Identity Transformation, based on a book chapter she authored for an upcoming publication by Springer Publishers.

Her second presentation focused on Digital Gamification and its Application in the Classroom, which evolved into an engaging, hands-on workshop, allowing educators from around the world to explore practical ways of using digital gamification in their own classrooms.

Ms Van Niekerk's passion for innovation, research, and excellence in education continues to inspire both our learners and fellow educators. We are honoured to have her representing Sun Valley Primary School on the international stage and sharing her expertise with the global education community.

Congratulations, Ms Van Niekerk! We are so proud of your outstanding achievement and the way you continue to lead, inspire, and make a difference in education.

🌊 Sun Valley Nippers Make Waves! 🏅

What an incredible season it has been for our Sun Valley Primary lifesavers! Our learners have proudly represented the FHLSC and provinces at Western Cape and SA Lifesaving Championships, producing outstanding performances both in the surf and the pool.

A huge congratulations to:

🏅 Kora Glencross – Won 1 Gold and 4 Silver medals at the Western Cape Stillwater Championships before competing at the South African Championships, where she improved her times in 5 of her 6 events.

🥈 Saarah Moosajee – Represented Fish Hoek Lifesaving Club at the DHL South African Championships, winning Silver in the Beach Long Run and Bronze in the Taplin Relay.

🥈 Emily Clark – Finished an incredible 2nd Overall in South Africa in the U12 Girls age group, with multiple podium finishes across both surf and stillwater events.

🥇 Felix Jenman – Collected multiple Western Cape and South African Championship Gold Medals in Surf Swim, Run-Swim-Run and Taplin Relay events.

🌊 Ismail Moosajee – Competed at the Western Cape Stillwater Championships before representing Fish Hoek at his first South African Championships, earning a Top 10 Stillwater finish.

💪 Trystan Hoffman – Enjoyed an outstanding debut season and was recognised with the Fish Hoek Lifesaving Club Grit Award for his determination, resilience and courage.

⭐ Ady Hoffman – Competed at all four major Nippers Championships this season, achieved personal bests in every individual event, and was awarded Best Stillwater Competitor and Highest Overall Stillwater Points in her age category by Fish Hoek Lifesaving Club.

🏃‍♀️ Willow Gie – Competed at both the Western Cape and South African Championships, finishing 4th in the Beach Sprint Relay and 5th in Flags against the country's top young lifesavers.

🥉 Lily Brown – Rounded off a fantastic season by winning a Bronze Medal in Ball Throw at the South African Lifesaving Championships.

These achievements are a testament to the commitment, courage, and perseverance shown by our learners throughout the season.

⛳ Luke Drives to More Success! 🏆

Congratulations to Luke on an incredible run of achievements on the golf course!

Luke claimed 1st place at the Western Province U13 Tournament at Kuilsriver, showcasing outstanding composure, focus, and skill under pressure.

He then proudly represented Western Province at the U15 Triangular Tournament in Robertson, where the WP team secured the overall victory against strong opposition.

To top it all off, Luke added another title to his growing list of achievements by winning the Western Province U13 Tournament at Westlake, carding an excellent 74 to finish in 1st place.

Luke's consistency, dedication, and love for the game continue to shine, and we are incredibly proud of the way he represents both Western Province and Sun Valley Primary.
