We are happy to announce that our much anticipated SPRING SONGWRITING COURSE kicks off in a few weeks time. We meet Wednesday evenings (for 8 weeks) in our warm and friendly school space for discussion, listening, learning, jamming and creative workshops. The process culminates with each participant writing an original course song and recording it in our studio. If you are an aspiring or emerging songwriter, our school is the place for you. We have inspired and assisted hundreds since opening our doors in November 2008 ... and, we look forward to hearing from you.

The talented participants in the Beyond Busking '26 Program completed the Cape Town School of Songwriting 8-Module Songwriting Course and recorded their song demos in our studio through July, bringing their Singer-songwriter, Acoustic-pop, Marabi, Maskandi and RnB compositions to life. They will now proceed to have their songs arranged, recorded and produced in collaboration with some of our best local producers, session musicians and sound engineers. The project started a few years back by Lynne Holmes and Yusuf Ganief in collaboration with the Western Cape Arts Festivals is doing remarkable work.

This is Maskandi artist Lungie Ngcobo from Kwa-Makhutha in KZN tuning up before one of our songwriting workshop sessions. Lungie has come to Cape Town to participate in the Beyond Busking program which I am so fortunate to be involved with. I get to share my perspective on songs and songwriting with gifted artists like Lungie, and I get to learn from them.
Lungie is a wonderful, highly skilled guitarist and songwriter who learnt the polyrhythmic Maskandi picking and singing style from her grandfather the great Shiyani Ngcobo. What a privilege ... thank you Western Cape Arts Festivals and Cape Town School of Songwriting
