An invitation to go deeper into the art of songwriting.

If you’ve been thinking about developing your songwriting, this is an invitation to join us for something a little different.

Our Spring Songwriting Course begins Wednesday 2 September at the Cape Town School of Songwriting — a unique, holistic and experiential journey into the craft and art of writing songs.

Drawing on our well respected book Head, Heart & Hands – A Brave New Approach to Songwriting, the course moves beyond conventional songwriting instruction. We explore not only how songs work, but why they move us — bringing together the Head (understanding and craft), the Heart (authenticity, emotion and human connection) and the Hands (the practical process of creating, developing and performing songs).

Over the course, we’ll explore lyrics, melody, song form, creative process and collaboration, with plenty of opportunity to write, experiment, share and receive constructive feedback.

The journey culminates in individual attention to help take your songwriting to the next level by composing a song within the lines of our method and, recording it in our song demo studio.

And perhaps most importantly, the course is designed for songwriters at every level — from those taking their first brave steps to experienced writers wanting to rediscover, deepen and expand their creative practice.

If you’ve been waiting for the right time to take your songwriting seriously, perhaps this is it.

The Spring Songwriting Course starts Wednesday 2 September. Places are limited, so please get in touch soon if you’d like to join us.

We’d love to have you on the journey.

The talented participants in the Beyond Busking '26 Program completed the Cape Town School of Songwriting 8-Module Songwriting Course and recorded their song demos in our studio through July, bringing their Singer-songwriter, Acoustic-pop, Marabi, Maskandi and RnB compositions to life. They will now proceed to have their songs arranged, recorded and produced in collaboration with some of our best local producers, session musicians and sound engineers. The project started a few years back by Lynne Holmes and Yusuf Ganief in collaboration with the Western Cape Arts Festivals is doing remarkable work.

Our next course, The Cape Town School of Songwriting Spring Songwriting Course commences on Wednesday 2 September 2026. Message us or give us a call on 082 3194500 if you would like to book a seat.
