Greenfield Girls' Primary, Kenilworth

Greenfield is a small hidden jewel on the border of Kenilworth and Claremont.

Established in 1957 and with just one class per Grade, the girls learn about far more than just the traditional "three R's". Architecturally the school is designed around Greenfield House, the original home which Sir John Molteno (first Prime Minister of the Cape Colony) built for his daughter. The house is still used by the school, providing room for Music Instruction, Art and our After-Care facility

Today we celebrate the energy, creativity, courage and potential of the young people who will shape our future.

At Greenfield Girls' Primary, we see every day how young minds can dream boldly, think critically, show compassion and make a positive difference in the world around them. Whether in the classroom, on the sports field, on the stage or through acts of kindness, our girls remind us that leadership begins with curiosity, courage and a willingness to learn.

As we commemorate Youth Day, we honour the young people whose bravery helped shape our nation's history. Their legacy inspires us to continue building a future founded on opportunity, dignity, respect and hope.

In the words of Kofi Annan:

"Young people should be at the forefront of global change and innovation. Empowered, they can be key agents for development and peace."

May we continue to nurture confident young women who are ready to make a meaningful contribution to South Africa and the world.

πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦ Happy Youth Day!

🌊 World Oceans Day 2026 🌊
Today, on World Oceans Day, we celebrate the incredible oceans that sustain life on Earth and remind ourselves of our responsibility to protect them.
Living in beautiful Cape Town, we are fortunate to be surrounded by some of the world's most spectacular coastlines. Our oceans provide food, regulate our climate, support countless species, and offer places of wonder, recreation, and inspiration.
At Greenfield Girls' Primary, we believe that even small actions can make a big difference. By reducing plastic waste, recycling responsibly, conserving water, and caring for our natural environment, we help ensure that future generations can enjoy healthy oceans too.
As girls who are growing into women of purpose, our Greenies are learning that stewardship of the planet begins with everyday choices. Together, we can nurture a love for nature, inspire positive action, and help our world flourish.

To our treasured Muslim families, staff, and friends of Greenfield Girls’ Primary, we extend our warmest wishes on the blessed occasion of Eid al-Adha.

May this sacred time be filled with peace, faith, compassion, and togetherness. Eid reminds us of the importance of sacrifice, gratitude, generosity, and caring for those around us. These values strengthen not only our families and communities, but also the spirit of kindness and unity we cherish at Greenfield.

As you gather with loved ones in celebration and prayer, may your homes be filled with joy, laughter, and countless blessings.
