A few quick SEED stats 🌱

Sometimes we get so busy doing the work that we forget to stop and share it.

So here’s a little snapshot of what’s happening across our spaces lately 💚

🌿 270 students trained each year
🥬 114kg of organic produce harvested every month
🌱 300 primary school learners taught every week through our Outdoor Classroom
🍲 Produce donated to 3 community feeding schemes every week

Small seeds. Big impact.

From boardrooms to garden beds 🌱

Such a good day with some of the PUMA South Africa team at Rocklands Urban Abundance Centre this week.

Planting cabbages and cauliflower, prepping compost, exploring the medicinal gardens and getting hands dirty together 🌍

Real partnerships are built through shared experiences, learning together and showing up in community.

Big thanks to the Puma team for bringing such great energy, and to our amazing SEED crew who made the day so special 💚

We’re looking forward to welcoming more teams in the months ahead for volunteer and team-building experiences rooted in nature, community and connection.

If your company or team would like to get involved, please do get in touch.

Looks like the wild weather is finally calming down 🌦️

After a few very stormy days and school closures, we’re looking forward to being back in the Outdoor Classroom tomorrow with the Grade 4s. There’s something special about seeing kids get back outside after being cooped up indoors for days. Muddy gardens, fresh air, hands in the soil and lots of excitement incoming 🌱

Our Outdoor Classroom lessons are aligned with the CAPS curriculum and create space for learning that’s active, creative and connected to nature.

Here’s hoping the weather holds out for us tomorrow… it’s definitely been a wild week down here in the Cape 💚

Always such a treat to have the full SEED team together 🌱

Last week the SEED Board joined us when we had our annual AGM, and it was such a good reminder that behind every garden, workshop, school programme, muddy boot, fundraiser, compost heap, Outdoor Classroom lesson and big dream… there’s a whole crew of humans helping make it all possible.

This is the SEED board and leadership team. The people behind the scenes helping guide, support, challenge, encourage and grow this work year after year. Our board chairman even made the trip down from Johannesburg! These moments matter. Good conversations, shared vision, lots of laughs and a reminder that resilient futures are built collectively 💚

Grateful for this team and for everyone helping keep the roots strong while the work keeps growing.

A big thank you to James and the Uthando South Africa team for continuing to connect people to the real work happening on the ground here at SEED.

And thank you to We Are Africa for your support this year. It means so much -helping us to keep growing spaces where children, youth and communities can learn, plant, harvest, laugh, and find their way into greener more sustainable futures.

Welcome to everyone in Cape Town for We Are Africa Travel week 💚 🌍 🌿

Golden harvest moment 🍌✨

Sihle showing off the goods like it’s a trophy… because honestly, it is 😄
From soil to sweetness — this is what resilience looks like in action.

Now the real question is… what would YOU make with these beauties? 🍞 Banana bread? Smoothies? Pancakes? Or something wild we haven’t tried yet? 👀

Want to learn how to grow (and use!) your own food like this? Join us at our upcoming Resilience Training 🌱
11–29 May — it’s going to be GOOD.

SEED-stars in action 🌱✨

Our first Applied Permaculture Training of the year in full swing and the crew is in it!

Cold mornings, hands in the soil, learning, laughing, showing up… this group has been amazing. There’s something powerful about people coming together like this. Building skills, growing confidence, reconnecting with the land and with each other.

Graduation tomorrow. Big moment.

These are the kinds of skills that don’t just stay in the garden. They move into homes, communities, and futures. Where resilience, knowledge, and opportunity begin to take root. 🌿

Resilience Training coming up 11–29 May 2026. Have you signed up yet? Link in bio..
