A BIG thank you to Andrew Kellard for taking time out of his very busy schedule to bring diamonds and the work we have covered this term to life. After covering the mineral revolution in Southern Africa in Social Sciences and in preparation for Natural Science, elements and minerals found in the Earths’ crust - Last week our learners were treated to a very interesting presentation on Diamonds.
Our learners were enthralled, there was a flood of very good and interesting questions from all our learners.

We enjoyed our Life Orientation lesson in one of the beautiful tidal pools we have in Cape Town. Yesterday our learners were given the opportunity to experience the benefits of swimming as a wholesome form of exercise and full body workout. We are fortunate to have a beautiful outdoor pool on our doorstep. Thank you to all our learners for participating and making this so much fun.

TTC has had a wonderfully successful start to our 2021 academic year. Our grade 10 Consumer Study learners put their culinary skills to the test and produced some decadently, delicious pancakes. Well done 👌🏻💯🌹

When you have a "regular" child, you feel reasonably assured that class participation and decent study habits will result in good grades. These kids have close friends. They get invited to participate in social things like dances and weekend gatherings. They make the teams, auditioned organizations and clubs. And you give little thought to them remaining academically eligible for participation.
But when you have a child with certain differences, this is often not the case. Learning may take longer, both academically and socially. Despite their tremendous efforts, results are often a fraction of their peers and social acceptance is fleeting, setting them up for painful comparisons and bitter frustration. Instead of a fun and fulfilling experience, school can become a breeding ground for depression and anxiety, and assignments a battle ground at home. It is exhausting for parent and child alike.
This is the week of SPED (Special Education), Autism, Dyslexia, and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) awareness. For all the children who struggle every day to succeed in a world that does not recognize their gifts and talents, and for those who are walking beside them, please let this be a gentle reminder to be kind and accepting of ALL people. Recognize that the "playing field" is not always a level surface. Children who learn differently are not weird. They are merely gifted in ways that our society does not value. Yet they want what everyone else wants: To be accepted.
If you choose, please copy and paste this in honor of all children who are deemed "different". Our world would be far less beautiful without them.
All they want is to have a friend...let that sink in...they JUST. WANT. A. FRIEND.

Welcome back TTC family. Day 1 Term 4. We are in the homestretch. A few of our learners had a little fun in the park during our LO lesson today and then got back to the centre for some well earned cooling off. Even our mascot George, our African Grey joined us outdoors.

Virtual Learning in Action. Our grade 9's all did themselves proud in their NS PAT. We were tasked with making our own battery using fruit or vegetables and to understand electrolytes. We learned that the energy comes from the chemical change in the zinc when it dissolves into the acid. The energy does not come from the lemon or potato. The zinc is oxidized inside the lemon, exchanging some of its electrons with the acid in order to reach a lower energy state, and the energy released provides the power. We experienced fun, frustration and some of us experienced exhilaration when we got our circuit working and the light bulb to shine or watch to work. Thank you for persevering, well done to you all. I look forward to our discussions in our Virtual NS lesson tomorrow.
