A Reminder to Those Serving the House of Allah

Serving as a masjid trustee, committee member, administrator, or imam is an honor and a trust (amanah), not a position of ownership. We must guard against viewing the masjid as "our masjid" or the committee as something that belongs to us, our families, or our personal interests.

The masjid is the House of Allah, and we are merely its custodians for a time. While our roles are temporary, our accountability before Allah is lasting.

Our decisions should be guided by what best serves the worshippers and pleases Allah, rather than by personal preferences, family influence, pride, or a desire to retain control.

Many have served before us, and many will serve after us. Our responsibility is to leave the masjid stronger, more united, and more welcoming than we found it, seeking Allah’s pleasure alone rather than personal recognition.

May Allah grant all trustees, committee members, administrators, and imams sincerity, wisdom, humility, and success in fulfilling this trust. Ameen.
