This Youth Day, we honour the energy, creativity, resilience, and potential of South Africa's young people. We honour the courage of the youth who helped shape our nation's history and look forward with hope to the leaders, thinkers, and changemakers of tomorrow.

🌟 Congratulations to our weekly merit winners! 🌟

This week, we celebrated learners who reached Level 100 on Reading Eggs or Reading Eggspress, earning them a Special Award for their dedication, perseverance, and love of reading. 📚✨

We also recognised learners across the school with Individual Merit Awards. These awards are presented to one learner in each grade who has demonstrated a character trait that reflects our school values throughout the week.

Well done to all our recipients! We are proud of the effort, growth, and positive attitudes you bring to our school community every day. 👏💙

🔬🔍🧪“Science and fun cannot be separated.” ~ Roger Penrose

Our primary school learners recently brought this idea to life at their very own Science Fair, held in the school's halls and classrooms.

From discovering how long gummy bears take to dissolve in different liquids to creating lava lamps, exploring water filtration, turning tea bags into hot air balloons, and exploring the magic of volcanoes and magnets, our young scientists had an amazing time sharing their experiments with teachers, families, and each other.

The excitement and curiosity in the room were contagious, with every project reflecting genuine hands-on discovery and learning. Moments like these are where curiosity grows into a lifelong love of learning.

We are incredibly proud to announce that Liam has been selected to participate in the prestigious MOCCA Art Club 2026 programme!

This is an exceptional achievement, with only 15 candidates chosen following a highly competitive interview process. As a Grade 9 learner, Liam’s selection is particularly noteworthy, as the programme is typically reserved for Grade 10 and 11 learners. An exception was made in his case in recognition of his outstanding artistic talent, dedication, and passion for Visual Arts.

Liam’s artwork is characterised by remarkable attention to detail, dynamic compositions, and a wonderful ability to bring both real-world subjects and imaginative creations to life. Whether sketching intricate locomotives or powerful creatures, his creativity, perseverance, and enthusiasm shine through in every piece.

Over the next three months, Liam will attend weekly sessions facilitated by the BMW Centre for Art Education, where he will further develop his artistic skills, explore new creative techniques, and collaborate with fellow young artists. The programme culminates in a group exhibition, with the official opening taking place in November.

We look forward to following Liam’s artistic journey and celebrating his continued growth and success.

Teacher Sam and the Gr 5/6 class have been learning about early humans and the tools they used to survive.

To bring history to life, the learners created their own tools using natural resources 🌿

Teacher Caitlin and our Gr 2/3 learners have been engaging in hands-on Maths activities that challenge thinking, build confidence, and make learning meaningful:

⏲ Converting analogue time to digital time…tricky concept that requires focus and perseverance
🔺 Exploring symmetry using duct tape and shapes
⚖️ Investigating mass through grams and equal weight activities
💰 Practising money calculations and problem-solving skills

Learning with purpose means actively engaging, trying again, and growing through challenge…and that’s exactly what we’re seeing in our classrooms each day 🌱
