One of our learners snapped these pics of the flowers in our garden. You captured them beautifully, Olivia!
The Grade 2/3 class chose ‘science’ as their learning module for the term. This week the Foundation Phase learners enjoyed doing a ‘magic milk’ experiment using milk, food colouring and dish soap.
This semester the SP Life Sciences module is called Life to the Extreme - the class has been looking at different body systems throughout the term.
Today they did their term investigation on the digestive system. They mimicked the actions of the digestive system then applied their knowledge to the question paper.
Today the Intermediate Phase created their own hand heating pads. The learners designed their own creations on paper, then used their sewing skills to sew a small, felt animal-shaped hand warmer.
For the Grade 10 Mathematical Literacy Assignments this term learners had to gather information for a family of 4 who needs to do grocery shopping via public transport.
Learners received a shopping list with 7 items on it, and had to visit 3 different shops to compare prices of these items.
They had to take in consideration the sizes available, cost and unit cost of each item.
After gathering and analysing their information the had to write a recommendation report to the family.
It was such a privilege to be invited into the FET Visual Arts prac space this morning. Jaime and her students have created such a tranquil environment in which to share their creativity.
The learners are currently conceptualising their artworks, working on their source books. The theme for Grade 10 is ‘shoes’ whereas Grade 12 is working on ‘the ties that bind us’. Looking forward to seeing the artworks come to life!
This week we held our much anticipated SRC elections in the high school. We were deeply impressed by the level of interest shown in the school leadership opportunities this year, and are very proud of all the learners who presented at the SRC elections.
We congratulate our representatives from Grades 7-12 on our SRC this year, and are excited to see what Jaime and her team bring to this portfolio!
A big congratulations to Jacob who did his drumming Trinity exam in the Classical and Jazz category, achieving 80% merit! 🥁
Today we wish Cindi, our Head of Virtual School, a very happy birthday! We hope you have an amazing day ✨
Each Monday we start our day in Mentor Groups. This is a multi-grade group of learners in the primary or high school that meet together to check-in about how things are going, and to chat through various topics.
Today the primary school reviewed our school agreements in their mentor groups, while our high school looked at the qualities of a good leader, ahead of our SRC elections tomorrow 🗳
It’s great to be able to take learning outside when the weather is warm ☀️ here our Grade 2s are doing maths with Michaela, while our Grade 12 is looking at Business Studies with Bianca
Our FET Phase eased into English, writing short paragraphs about themselves and sharing it with their peers ✍️
Our Grade 7/8 LO class started creating Vision Boards for the year ahead, looking at goals and dreams linked to their family, friendships/relationships, health, academics, skills/knowledge, hobbies, and finances. We can’t wait to see the finished boards!
What a great first day back!
It was a day of getting to know one another, meeting new people, and exploring new spaces. We love our new High School classrooms, and the beautiful counselling space that Erin has created. We are also excited to have our first Matric student start the year ✨
A special welcome to our new families and staff members - we are excited to share this journey with you!
It was full steam ahead today, prepping for the return of our learners. Our teachers participated in a Classroom Management workshop in their phases, while our new learners attended a Google Classroom workshop. We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!
This year we look forward to welcoming Kay-Lee to our team, in our newly-created SP & FET Student position.
Kay-Lee completed her BA, majoring in Afrikaans, English, and History, at the University of the Western Cape. Passionate about languages, social sciences, and children, she is looking forward to completing her PGCE this year.
She believes that the classroom should not only be a space where learners are taught how to write essays or analyse poems, but also a space where they are nurtured and loved. She has a heart for progressive education and wants to teach by the quote that says, “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” This means an emphasis on learning by doing.
In her free time, Kay-Lee likes to spend time with her family, and go out to restaurants with friends. Apart from reading for academic reasons she also enjoys reading for pleasure, as she not only believes that a reader lives a thousand lives, but also that reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.
We are so thrilled to welcome Elizabeth to our High School team next year, as our Maths & Physics specialist.
Elizabeth studied a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at Stellenbosch University, and graduated Cum Laude. Thereafter, she completed her PGCE in Senior Phase and FET education in 2021. In 2017 she spent a year doing voluntary work for youth programs in Scotland, and has always been passionate about the well-being of teens.
Her motivation to teach stems from her desire to encourage, equip and empower students during some of the most formative years of life. She seeks to engage students on a level which is most helpful to them, by prioritising their individual processes of constructing knowledge and understanding.
In her spare time, Elizabeth enjoys outdoor adventures such as hiking, surfing, scuba-diving and fishing. She also loves a good game of squash, painting, playing guitar and curling up with a cup of hot cocoa and a good book.
After being with us since we started, we say farewell to Gov at the end of the year, as he moves into online teaching. With that, we welcome Kelly to our team!
Kelly studied her B.Ed at Varsity College. She is passionate about allowing learners to be actively involved in their learning and have them as the centre of the learning process. Her goal is to inspire young minds and create a warm environment where learners can reach their individual potential. She recognises that no two learners are the same; they have different backgrounds, personalities, and desires. It is her belief that the classroom should be a safe and inclusive environment where the learners are able to use their voice in a positive way and not be judged for their opinion.
Her view is that teachers are not only there to facilitate learning, but to give learners love and security in the classroom, and support them in developing their love for learning.
Kelly’s passions lie with baking and cooking; she is always keen to try out a new recipe. When she isn’t spending her time in the kitchen, she is ready for an outdoor adventure.
This term our Foundation Phase chose Around the World as their learning theme. To wrap up the module, the phase held a food fair today. A big THANK YOU to our parents who went to so much effort to make this a special day for everyone. What a fantastic way to end of the term!

At the end of the year we bid farewell to Caroline, who will be moving back to KZN to be with her family. We look forward to welcoming Shriya as our Foundation Phase learnership.
Shriya completed a B.Ed degree in the Foundation Phase and is currently a B.Ed Honours student at the University of Cape Town. Shriya hopes to expand her knowledge of teaching by continuing to study a remedial education course in order to become an expert in the field of teaching.
Shriya is passionate about empowering young minds and making a difference in the world. She spends her free time volunteering at different organisations, doing art and going to the gym. Prior to Covid-19, she also spent a lot of time travelling as she loves exploring and meeting new people. In her pic below she is exploring the Grand Canyon.
Welcome to the team, Shriya!
We are so impressed by the stop motion videos that our Intermediate Phase created as part of the technology component of their History of Film module.
Stop motion is a method of making animated films by moving objects by a small amount, taking a photo each time, and putting the frames together so that the objects appear to be moving when the frames are played back.
A big congratulations to Jacob who passed his Hip Hop exam with a 90% distinction!

Today it was our Grade 1’s turn to celebrate Andrea’s birthday! So much fun and excitement, and lots of spoils and surprises 😊
This term our Gr 2/3 class chose to learn about different countries. They have been working hard on making a poster about a country they are interested in, and today they shared the information they have learned with their class 🌍
There was much excitement in the air as our Intermediate Phase hosted a Market Day today! So many delicious treats, as well as some creative decorations, jewellery and drawings. There was even something for our furry friends 🐾
There was much excitement in the Grade 2/3 class as they celebrated Michaela’s birthday. We hope you have a wonderful day!
We wish our High School students well as they start their exams today. While having a good work ethic is important, always remember that your grades do not define who you are as a person!
Next year we look forward to having Cindi in her new role as Head of Virtual School.
Cindi studied B.Ed Senior and FET phase at the University of Pretoria and graduated Cum Laude. She believes in being a lifelong learner and therefore loves learning new things each day. Cindi received her Google Educator Level 1 certificate in 2021. Her vision for the Virtual School is to make the online experience valuable and inclusive, by creating an environment where learners feel like they are a part of the physical classroom.
She believes in developing 21st century skills in learners, and her goal for her learners is to become critical thinkers so that they can become self-driven adults that confidently approach the challenges life offers them. She also wants to show learners that through hard work and dedication, they can achieve the goals they set for themselves.
In Cindi's free time she likes to crochet and to go on adventures with friends and loved ones. She also enjoys exploring and visiting new places.
