✨Student Spotlight✨
Grade 8 student Georgie Nel achieved Western Province colours in June for her performance in two hip hop groups at Regionals where she achieved 1st and 2nd place! 🥇

In July she participated in the World Dance Competition in Disney World, Orlando, and her hip hop trio achieved a platinum result and first place overall in their category!
Georgie is now headed to Nationals in Johannesburg this month where her group will compete for their protea colours.

We are so proud of you, keep on shining! 🌟

✨Student Spotlight✨
Ava Lilleike in grade 10 and her hip hop group from Thania’s Academy of Performing Arts (TAPA) competed in 2 regional South African Body of Dance (SABOD) contests in June. Georgie Nel in grade 8 was also part of this group and she is getting a spotlight soon.

The girls faced stiff competition to place 2nd in their Intermediate Small Group division on both days. 🥈

Moreover, the team was selected to represent Western Province at the National Championships during August where they are aiming for gold! This will give them the opportunity of representing South Africa in Poland at the International Dance Organisation (IDO) Hip Hop Battles Championship in October. 🏆

​On 21 July, our team at Silvermine Academy had the privilege of connecting with our colleagues from Ambleside Hout Bay | Independent School for an inspiring day of collaborative professional development and great fun!

​We took a deep dive into the IEB curriculum, exploring actionable ways to apply Bloom’s and SOLO taxonomies to spark higher-order thinking in our classrooms. Beyond the framework, the highlight of the day was sitting together to share success stories, victories, and insights from our respective school communities.

Real-world problems require real-world solutions! 🌍 Our Grade 8&9 students absolutely crushed their recent PBL assessment, designing sustainable development plans and creating beautiful visual artifacts centered around our local Cape Town communities.

Well done to every student and staff member who braved the peaks, the elements and wind. Our 2026 Term 2 Hike was a tough but beautiful. We hiked from Silvermine Waterfall to Clovelly.

We are grateful to the SMA teachers, GOLIATH Fitness 💯💪 and Mountain Men Security who made sure that everyone navigated the tricky parts safely. Thank you!
