Youth Day is in remembrance of an event known as the Soweto Uprising. It occurred on June 16, 1976. Hundreds of thousands of students took to the streets of Soweto to protest against Apartheid’s laws around education, specifically the usage of Afrikaans as the only language of education. To be educated should be an equal opportunity and they knew it and they knew they deserved to be taught despite the colour of their skin.
This day reminds us that the future is dictated by our youth. Who we are is because of our past and because of those that gave their lives so that we could all sit and have the opportunities that they were denied and gave their lives for. Wasting what they fought for would be tragic and we implore you to reflect on this day as we celebrate the lives of these children.

Bravissimi! 🇮🇹🎭
Last night, the Baxter Theatre was transformed into fair Verona as our talented Grade 10 and 11 pupils took to the stage for a breathtaking performance of Romeo and Juliet.
Organized in collaboration with the Società Dante Alighieri, this wasn't your typical Shakespeare, the entire production was performed completely in Italian! A massive congratulations to our students for delivering such a passionate performance.
A special thank you to Mr. Bermani, our Italian teacher, for guiding our pupils through this ambitious linguistic and artistic journey.
📸 thank you for these amazing pics.
