26 ALPHA band loading. Celebrating Youth Talent
16/06/2026
This Youth Day, our 26 ALPHA students explored our country's history, reflected on current affairs, showcased their musical talent - all to broaden their perspectives on youth resilience and to celebrate each other.
All our students visited the Iziko Museum Cape Town to reflect on our nation's history, honour the legacy of the youth of 1976, and engage with the realities facing many young people today.
As part of our programme, students had the privilege of viewing the powerful production Humans of the Street, produced by Streetscape's Community Projects and written by Mike van Graan. Performed by individuals with lived experience of homelessness and now working with Streetscapes, the play shared moving stories of resilience, hardship, and hope. It highlighted how fractured families, mental health challenges, substance use, trauma, and poverty can contribute to homelessness. It reminded us that with the support of government, communities and organisations, lives can be transformed.
Lastly - our students have exceptional talent . 26 ALPHA band loading.....

๐ Youth Month in Full Swing Across Our Hubs! ๐
June has been alive with purpose, creativity, and opportunity as our hubs continue to champion positive youth development across the Western Cape.
๐ Kraaifontein
Young people committed to their future by attending Learnerโs Licence classes, taking real steps toward mobility, independence, and safer roads.
๐ Steenberg & Mfuleni
Our teams delivered motivational sessions, presentations, and application support โ helping youth access jobs, training, and growth opportunities. Every conversation is a seed planted for a stronger future.
๐ Manenberg
The streets transformed into a stage for a Dance Battle โ not a crime battle. Young people chose expression over violence and community over conflict. This is the power of safe, creative spaces.
๐ Chrysalis Academy Graduates Giving Back
Across the hubs, our proud graduates returned to share their personal journeys, challenges, breakthroughs, and the impact of the Academy on their lives. Their stories of discipline, resilience, and transformation inspired the next generation to believe that change is possible โ and within reach.
From classrooms to community streets, Youth Month shows the strength, talent, and determination of our young people. We are proud of every hub, every facilitator, and every youth who showed up for themselves.

The Chrysalis Academy proudly celebrates the remarkable achievements of ๐๐ด๐ป๐ฎ๐๐๐ถ๐ ๐ง๐ต๐ผ๐บ๐ฎ๐, a distinguished graduate of our ๐ฌ๐ฐ ๐๐๐๐ฅ๐๐๐ cohort. Ignatuis's inspiring journey since graduating exemplifies the transformative power of dedication and continuous self-improvement.
Upon completing his training at the Academy, Ignatuis secured permanent employment as a LoveLife facilitator, demonstrating his immediate commitment to community upliftment. His seven-year tenure with the Western Cape Department of Social Development, following his qualification as an Auxiliary Social Worker, saw him passionately working with youth in conflict with the law. This extensive experience in community development provided a solid foundation for his subsequent career transition into law enforcement with the City of Cape Town.
Ignatuis is a testament to the pursuit of knowledge and self-empowerment, values deeply ingrained in the Chrysalis Academy's ethos. He has consistently expanded his educational qualifications, earning a Bachelor of Public Administration (Honours) and a Diploma in Public Accountability from Stellenbosch University, alongside Higher Certificates as an Auxiliary Social Worker and Personal Trainer.
Mr. Thomas expresses profound appreciation for the Academy, affirming its pivotal role in shaping his personal development and professional trajectory. We are incredibly proud of his extraordinary resilience, exemplary work ethic, and his ability to achieve remarkable transformation in the face of poverty and adversity. Ignatuis Thomas stands as a truly deserving role model.
Well done, 04 CHARLIE!
