Still going strong for Mandela Day. We spent this weekend painting and doing a community clean up. It was so good to see the local children getting involved in bettering their own neighbourhood.

The wildfires we have seen this year in both the Western and Eastern Cape has had a devastating affect on our community, especially those from our informal settlements. Our First Class Volunteers look forward to join the Khusela Ikhaya Project this Mandela Day to help paint some of these structures with a fire retardant paint. We are excited to this because

This is such a sad but heartwarming story. Even though I'm sharing this post, which is beyond the scope of what we as FirstClassVolunteers do as an organisation, it still serves as an inspiration to do more for neglected youth. We often find ourselves living in a social and cultural bubble and become completely disconnected from these hard realities. This is a reminder of the positive social impact one individual can have on so many, including me.
