A pioneer to many. Celebrating a giant in the IS domain.
Emeritus Professor Ojelanki Ngwenyama's impact on Information Systems research and education at UCT, and across the globe, is difficult to overstate.
A new University of Cape Town Faculty of Commerce article captures something of the holistic, liberating pedagogy that has shaped more than 40 PhD scholars and over 100 research papers out of our department.
What stands out to is how Ojelanki has always understood that becoming a scientist is also a process of deconditioning the mind, stripping away the filters that tell young researchers from the Global South that science belongs to someone else, somewhere else. Barefoot lectures, meditation, music, whatever it takes to dissolve those barriers and make space for genuine inquiry.
For those in the IS PhD programme at the University of Cape Town, his fingerprints are everywhere.
A well-deserved recognition. 👏
