to our SU/SAMRC Centre for TB Research 🫁 Symposium, held on 27 March 2026 ✨

From microbe 🦠 to host 🧬 to intervention 💊, the day brought together leading voices across the spectrum. We kicked things off by setting the stage with talks on pathophysiology 😷, bacterial biology 🔬, metabolism⚡, host susceptibility 👥, and the broader context 🐮🦁🐦‍⬛🌍

Session 2 focused on the human host response to infection 🧬🛡️ — with insights into immune cell localisation 🔎, advanced imaging 🩻, and molecular profiling 🧪 to better understand how host responses shape TB disease and outcomes.

We closed with a forward-looking session on interventions 💡 highlighting advances in diagnosis 🧫, prevention 🛑, and long-term care 🤝 followed by a panel discussion on TB research in the current funding landscape 💰🔬

Thank you to our incredible speakers 🎤, panellists 💬, organisers 🙌, and attendees 👏 for a full day of engaging science, thoughtful discussion, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Swipe through for highlights from a fantastic day! 📸✨
