After finishing 5th in the prestigious 2025 Southern Cross (SOX) at just 13 years old, Aaron Kelly (MYP 3) returned this weekend, 7–9 August 2026, for the 14th edition of this challenging three-day trail race.

Taking on the spectacular terrain of George’s Mountains ⛰️, Knysna’s Forest 🌲 and Wilderness Beach 🌊, Aaron delivered an outstanding performance to claim 1st place overall. 🥇

🚀 20 minutes faster than his previous time

During their recent Unit of Inquiry, ‘Families Help Us Feel Loved and Connected’, our PYP 1 students have discovered the many ways families support, care for one another, and connect with the wider community. 🌍❤️

As part of their learning, our students enjoyed a special visit to a retirement village, where they spent time completing puzzles 🧩, painting 🎨, reading and sharing smiles and conversations with the residents. 😊

It was a heart-warming experience that encouraged our young students to show kindness, empathy and respect while creating meaningful connections across generations. 💙

This Mandela Day, our school community came together to make a difference.

Thanks to the generosity of our students, families, and staff, we collected and assembled 220 care packages for girls at a local school, each containing personal care essentials.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated and helped put these care packages together. Your compassion and generosity remind us that even small acts of kindness can have a meaningful impact. 💛

🏡♻️ Thinking Big by Building Small

Our innovative MYP 5 Design students explored the growing Tiny House Movement, investigating how smaller, thoughtfully designed homes can help reduce our environmental impact. 🌍
⠀
Using the Design Cycle, students researched sustainable housing principles before developing detailed floor plans and creating 3D digital models in Tinkercad. 💻📐 They then brought their ideas to life in the workshop, taking part in a creative “trash-to-treasure” challenge by constructing architectural models using recycled paper and wood glue. 🪵📦

The project encouraged students to think critically about sustainable design while demonstrating how everyday recycled materials can be transformed into practical and innovative housing solutions. 💡♻️ It was a fantastic example of creativity, problem-solving, and environmental responsibility in action.
