To our MC, Graeme Raubenheimer, for guiding the event with such ease and presence; to our moderator, Ondela Mdlandu, for holding space for thoughtful, layered conversation; and to our speakers, Yvette Zihhalirwa, Tasnika Goorhoo and Kumbira Makanza, for showing up with honesty, courage, and depth – sharing not just ideas, but lived experiences that truly embodied the spirit of this theme. Your contributions shaped more than a moment on stage; they set the tone for the journey ahead.

Special thanks to our TEDxCapeTown volunteers; without your commitment and support, we would not exist.

To our partners Workshop17 for the beautiful space and Chilled Drama-Free Lifestyle for the delicious, wholesome vegan catering. Our audience thoroughly enjoyed the space, the atmosphere and the treats.

Did you know our Food Ethos is Vegan?

More than a decade ago, under the leadership of Justin Beswick we made the decision...

15 years later, our leadership team has still aligned with this ethos. We are excited to announce this new partnership! For guest attending on Saturday, you will be in for a treat.

ONLY 20 tickets left... https://www.quicket.co.za/events/365476-tedxcapetown-2026-theme-reveal #/ (venue Workshop17 Newlands)

“Through this partnership, we’re inviting our audience to engage not just intellectually, but physically and emotionally with the idea of more resilient, conscious futures. Chilled’s approach to food aligns seamlessly with the kind of thinking we aim to spark on the TEDx stage,” says Alexandrnya Raubenheimer, TEDxCapeTown Curator.

We are NOT a once off event... we aim to always bring our TEDx speakers back into the room to reflect on the journey since the stage and to engage on current relevant topics aligned with past talks...

This Saturday we are joined by 3 of our TEDx speakers...

Image: Yvette Zihhalirwa (top) She works across food identity, nutrition, lifestyle disease prevention, and virtual healthcare delivery through global organisations bringing care directly into homes.

Tasnika Goorhoo (right) She champions gender equity in the energy transition. Her mission is to ensure women shape the climate and energy systems that will define Africa’s future.

Kumbirai Makanza (left) He reimagines diaspora remittances as engines for clean energy development, entrepreneurial growth, and regenerative, sustainable economic models.
