✨ The Core Rules of Yacht Table Décor ✨

A beautifully set table is about so much more than making it look pretty, but boy oh boy doesn't this table from our last course week look divine? Onboard a yacht, your table needs to be elegant, functional, balanced and guest ready. ⚓️

When setting up, always keep the fundamentals in mind:

🌿 Start with your theme, consider the menu, occasion, time of day and overall guest preference before choosing your décor.

🍽️ Function comes first, guests need enough space to comfortably eat, drink and interact. Never overcrowd the table for the sake of decoration.

📏 Balance & symmetry matter, place settings should be evenly spaced, chairs aligned and décor thoughtfully positioned.

🌸 Consider height, centrepieces should never obstruct a guest’s view or make conversation across the table difficult.

🥂 Keep your settings consistent, glassware, cutlery, crockery and napkins should follow the same placement throughout the table.

✨ Pay attention to every detail, polished glassware, spotless cutlery, crease-free linen, clean crockery and perfectly positioned pieces are all part of the finished look.

🛥️ Remember: you’re on a yacht! Consider wind, movement and the environment. Outdoor décor should be secure, practical and suitable for the conditions.

And finally… step back and look at the table as a whole.

Luxury table décor doesn’t need to be excessive. Often, the most beautiful tables are the ones where every detail feels intentional. 🤍

From next year, students who choose to stay at The Down South Crew House while completing their courses through The Stewardess Co. will have the option to make use of our new student transport service. ⚓️

Our new van will help take the stress out of getting to and from training, making your time with us that little bit more convenient, especially for students travelling to Cape Town from other parts of South Africa or from overseas. 🌍
