The UCT International Office was delighted to welcome Kelly Watts from Brown University to campus last week. Discussions focused on expanding opportunities for global learning and exploring innovative approaches to international education that combine academic study with experiential learning and professional development. We look forward to strengthening the relationship and creating meaningful opportunities for students to engage, learn and grow.

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Alumni Breakfast, hosted by the International Office, brought together Alumni, Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program partners, graduating Mastercard Foundation Scholars, and current Mastercard Foundation Scholars for a meaningful morning of connection and reflection. Alumni of the program shared inspiring stories of how the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program shaped their academic journeys, opened doors to new opportunities and contributed to their personal and professional growth. The Alumni encouraged attendees and reminded current Scholars of the impact they are capable of making and the possibilities that lie ahead.

In celebration of Africa Month, the 2026 Africa Rising Talent Showcase brought together culture, creativity, and connection through an unforgettable evening of talent and expression, highlighting the richness of African culture and the incredible talent within our student community.
In celebration of Africa month, the spirit of Africa echoed across campus as the vibrant Roscommon choir marched through the UCT plaza, filling the air with song, unity and celebration. Draped in the colours and flags of diverse African nations, students proudly represented the continent’s rich cultures while sharing music that brought everyone together. A powerful reminder that Africa lives in our voices, our movement and our shared pride.

UCT Open Day 2026 proved to be an incredible success! The campus was filled with excitement, curiosity and future possibilities. The UCT International Office was proud to be part of the day, engaging with prospective students and sharing the many international and exchange opportunities available at UCT. It was exciting to be part of such an energetic and inspiring atmosphere.
As Anna adapted to a new academic and cultural environment, she discovered how stepping outside her comfort zone shaped her growth both personally and academically. Reflecting on her exchange experience at the University of Amsterdam / Universiteit van Amsterdam , she shares how the journey strengthened her independence, expanded her global perspective and enriched her academic experience at University of Cape Town.
