Micro Movements for 30 Days | Day 21: Choose
Short movement breaks can help maintain joint mobility and break up prolonged sitting.
Today’s invitation is simple: choose the movement that feels most supportive for your body. Which one are you trying today?
Micro Movements for 30 Days | Day 20: Circulate
Movement doesn’t have to be big to make a difference.
Today’s micro movement is a simple seated heel and toe raise. Alternating between lifting your heels and your toes gently moves the ankles through their range of motion and activates the muscles in your lower legs.
Regular ankle movement can help maintain joint mobility, support circulation during periods of prolonged sitting, and provide a gentle reminder to move throughout your day.
✨ Today’s invitation: Small movements still count.
Micro Movements for 30 Days | Day 19: Reset
Today’s micro movement is a gentle seated spinal twist. Sitting tall with one hand resting on your knee and the other on the chair, slowly rotate through your upper body and look over your shoulder if it feels comfortable. Repeat on the other side.
Gentle spinal twists help maintain mobility through the middle and upper back while encouraging movement through the shoulders and rib cage. Moving slowly with your breath also creates an opportunity to pause, notice how your body feels, and reset before continuing with your day.
✨ Today’s invitation: Move with curiosity, not force.
Remember, the goal isn’t to twist as far as you can, it’s to explore comfortable movement that feels supportive for your body today.
Micro Movements for 30 Days | Day 18: Unwind
Our hips spend hours in a flexed position when we sit, whether we’re working, studying or travelling.
Today’s micro movement is a seated Figure 4 stretch. Crossing one ankle over the opposite knee and gently hinging forward, if it feels comfortable, encourages movement through the hips and glutes while helping maintain hip mobility after periods of sitting.
✨ Today’s invitation: Notice the difference between your two sides without trying to change it.
Move with your breath, keep the movement comfortable, and remember that every body is different. Choose the version that feels most supportive for you today.
Micro Movements for 30 Days | Day 17: Move
Sitting for long periods can leave the spine feeling stiff. A gentle seated Cat-Cow is a simple way to bring movement back and create a mindful pause in your day.
As you inhale, lengthen through your spine and open your chest. As you exhale, round through your back and let your chin soften toward your chest.
Moving through spinal flexion and extension helps maintain mobility, while syncing movement with breath can build body awareness and help you slow down.
✨ Today’s invitation: Let your breath lead your movement.
There’s no need to make it big. A small, comfortable range of motion is enough.
Micro Movements for 30 Days | Day 16: Open
Long hours at a desk can encourage our shoulders to round forwards. Taking a moment to gently open through the chest can be a simple way to bring awareness back to your posture.
Today’s micro movement begins by interlacing your fingers behind your back and gently opening through the chest. As you inhale, lowering your chin to your chest. As you exhale, if it feels comfortable, gently lift your gaze or allow your head to move back within a comfortable range.
Chest-opening movements help maintain mobility through the shoulders and upper back, while encouraging the front of the body to lengthen. Coordinating your movement with slow, steady breathing can also create a mindful pause during a busy day.
✨ Today’s invitation: Create space across your chest and breathe into it.
Remember, your movement doesn’t need to be big to be beneficial. Choose the range that feels supportive for your body today.
Micro Movements for 30 Days | Day 15: Reach
Hours of sitting can leave our upper body feeling stiff. Taking just one minute to move can be a simple way to reconnect with your body during the day.
Today’s micro movement begins by interlacing your fingers and reaching your palms away from you. As you inhale, sweep your arms overhead. As you exhale, slowly return your arms in front of you.
Moving your shoulders through a comfortable range of motion while coordinating the movement with your breath can help maintain shoulder mobility, encourage gentle spinal lengthening, and create a mindful pause in your day.
✨ Today’s invitation: Create space with every breath.
Remember, move only within a range that feels comfortable. If lifting your arms overhead isn’t right for your body today, simply reach forward and breathe.
Micro Movements for 30 Days | Day 14: Build
Over the past week, we’ve explored gentle standing movements to help prepare the body for the day ahead. Today, I’d love to invite you to choose the movement that feels most supportive for you.
🌿 Fun fact: Somatic movement is less about how a movement looks and more about how it feels from the inside. Paying attention to your body’s internal sensations can help develop body awareness over time.
If you need a reminder of the cues for each movement, head back to the previous videos and move along at your own pace.
✨ Today’s invitation: Build a routine that feels good for your body.
Micro Movements for 30 Days | Day 13: Balance
Balance isn’t about standing perfectly still, it’s about making small adjustments along the way.
Today’s micro movement is Tree Pose. Standing on one leg while reaching your arms overhead gently challenges your balance, encourages body awareness, and strengthens the muscles that help keep you steady during everyday activities.
Remember, your foot can rest on your ankle or calf, or your toes can stay on the floor for extra support. You can also use a wall or chair if that feels more comfortable.
As you practise, you may notice your body gently swaying. That’s completely normal. Balance is a skill that develops over time, and every small adjustment is part of the process.
✨ Today’s invitation: Find your steady, not your perfect.
