Sometimes we spend so much energy working around what's broken that we forget it was never supposed to be that way.

Like a stuck door.

Push harder. Pull differently. Lift it a bit. Eventually, that's just “how we open the door.”

Eventually, we create a whole routine around a broken door. And it takes SO much energy.

We do this in life. We do it in business.

And sometimes, the thing draining your energy isn't the work itself. It's the broken system you're working around.

Maybe it's time to stop finding better ways to open the door and just fix it.

Warning Long Post - a bit of a rant 🫢

Everyday we are confronted with things that are changing. The rate of change is insane. Go to sleep with an app that worked a particular way and in the morning, it's changed. What do we do, adapt or moan or both lol

People have been blessed with brilliant brains and come up with amazing creations all the time which is fantastic.

However, there are some changes, some inventions that I don't know deserves all the flowers it's receiving.

I guess I'm asking where do we draw the line at celebrating certain things as opposed to us as a people going, wait, that's actually not that great.

Do we really need robot cleaners and waitresses and chefs? Do we really need robot companions?

Somehow we have found a way to justify the celebration of it all.

What about the mother who is now no longer needed as a robot has taken her place? What about the father who can no longer provide for his family as a robot can now fix the cars he used to?

Now I understand we are changing and evolving and I'm not against technology, I just wonder where should technology stop and our humanity take over?

These robots will save you money, designing your own AI poster will save you money, closing down stores and moving to an online platform will save you money yes.

I guess I'm just struggling to celebrate these "wins" as the cost of it seems so high as a human society.

Have you ever felt tired of growing? Tired of being the better person? ME TOO!

Another goal. Another course. Another project.
Another thing to fix, improve or achieve.

And even when you're doing well, there’s that little voice in your head saying: I should be doing more.

The problem isn’t growth. It’s growth without recovery, without rest, without celebration.

Aka growth fatigue.

Maybe we do too much of the:
Grow ➡️ achieve ➡️ improve ➡️repeat

and not enough of the:
Grow ➡️ pause ➡️ recover ➡️ appreciate ➡️ continue.

You don't always need another goal.

Sometimes you just need to stop and realise: Hey, I’ve actually come a long way.

I'm baaaaaaaack 😁

I've been hiding, all because of a comment that was made almost 6 months ago.

Well I'm done with that nonsense, gave myself a talking to and made a new decision, to put myself back out there.

So today if you are struggling with something holding you back, I give you permission to snap back and continue your journey!

Life is way too short to be bothered by other people's opinions, there I said it 🤭

Warning long post:

Last week, I was packed, ready for my 2pm flight to Joburg until I got to the counter...

The beautiful, friendly, professional flight attendant looked at me and said, ma'am we can't use your ID document as proof of identification as it is damaged.

And yes, you are probably thinking, really Tina, you still have a GREEN BARCODED ID document? You bet ya lol

It turns out, this document I was proud to apply for 3 days after I got married, 19 years ago (it's fine, you can listen and judge lol) could not be accepted in its damaged condition as per the supervisors instructions (and very much reinforced by the colleague next door lol).

The panic set in, no drivers license in sight, as this was expired (yes let the judgement continue lol), husband running to the car to get the temporary license (as I did the right thing to apply for a new one, just not collect it lol), only to realise it was in the other car, at home and a picture of it was not sufficient

The reality was setting in, I was not getting on this flight.

Called the client, changes were made, rushed to go to the drivers license department before they closed, got the new updated drivers license and eventually flew out at 6pm that evening.

Man what beautiful lessons to learn (definitely not in the moment lol).

Systems serve us until they don't, and we only listen until it hits you in the face.

New systems are screaming at us but we only apply them when the old breaks, and this usually costs us time, money, inconvenience and and and.

Learn the lesson - Don't be like me, apply for the new ID card lol and don't let old ways, old habits, old systems stop you from moving forward.

I have been working solo for the most part in Cupido Consulting for the last 5 and a half years.

But when things shift and others have a more hands on level of involvement, that can shift the dynamic of how things get done, routine, schedules etc

But teams, no matter how big or small doesn't fail because people are different, they fail because they are not aligned.

This team currently consists of a husband and wife which we think will automatically flow, and honestly for the most part it has. But there have been moments where we needed to have hard conversations to get the focus back to the main goal.

Unity is not about agreeing on everything.
It’s about committing to the same vision, the same standards, and the same outcome.

I had to learn how I did things wasn't always the best and had to understand that Craig's way is not wrong, it's merely different.

In organisations, churches, and small businesses you don’t need uniformity, you need alignment.

Different strengths. Different perspectives.One direction.

That’s where real power is.

Is this culture or is this God?

Sometimes we say we’re chasing purpose, but if we’re honest, we’re chasing what the world celebrates, money, status, attention, applause.

Culture tells us: “Follow your heart.”
But what if your heart has been shaped by everything except God?

God calls us higher:
Not to chase possessions, but to pursue Him.
Not to build an image, but to build character.
Not to be seen, but to be transformed.

It’s easy to put a God stamp on ambition and call it purpose. To dress up desires and label them “blessings.”

But the question remains:
Is what I’m pursuing drawing me closer to God or deeper into the world?

Because not everything that looks like success is obedience.

Let’s not just ask, “Is this good?”
Let’s ask, “Is this God?”

Life has looked very different since our 13 year old started high school this year.

The free time we once had feels like a distant memory. The quiet moments, the TV time, the simple joy of just sitting together, they’ve shifted.

Bedtimes are later. Mornings come quicker. And the driving back and forth seems endless.

But then…we see her smile.
That kind of joy that fills a room.
And suddenly, this season makes a little more sense.

Can we say yes to everything? No.
Is every moment enjoyable? Also no.
And that’s okay.

Because when we rush through a season, we risk missing what it’s trying to teach us, the growth, the perspective, and even the unexpected moments of joy.

So whatever season you find yourself in today:
Sit in it. Appreciate it. Learn from it.

Because before we know it, high school will be over and our 13-year-old will be an adult who no longer needs all those lifts back and forth.

I read something recently that really challenged me:
The difference between “Christian success” and what the world calls success… is often just the language we use.

Sometimes we put a “Hallelujah” on things and assume that means it’s aligned with God’s will.

But is it?

Today, I want to challenge you: What are you truly chasing?

Let’s shift our perspective. Not every blessing is loud, visible, or celebrated publicly.

Peace. Growth. Obedience. Discipline. Character.

Those matter too.
